Mandating Outside Classes for June ALA Girls State Sessions

2022 ALA UTAH GIRLS’ STATE GENERAL SESSION

SECTION 1. PURPOSE / GENERAL DESCRIPTION (Write a brief purpose of your

resolution.)________________ Citizens at Girls State are inside all day until they return to their dorms at night. They go from
meeting to meeting without many breaks in between, which causes extra stress and anxiety during their week. Outside learning has
been proven to enhance learning and overall academic performance, as well as benefit students’ mental health, all of which would be
very beneficial for everyone attending Girls State.

SECTION 2. WHEREAS CLAUSES.

WHEREAS citizens of Girls State work tirelessly in meetings and elections each day without many breaks,

WHEREAS the temperature of buildings and duration of time inside may make a citizen or counselor
uncomfortable,

WHEREAS citizens feel stressed or anxious following meetings or elections,

and,

WHEREAS citizens want fresh air during their busy and stressful day.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

RESOLVED, that the ALA Utah Girls State Directors and Administrators plan and
reserve time for classes or time to relax outside on campus to help relieve stress and
anxiety of citizens.
