Miranda v.

Arizona

The court held that suspects' rights must be notified both before and after interrogation. Any law
enforcement officer must demonstrate that they informed the subject of their rights and that the
person understood them. When an officer delivers someone their Miranda Rights or Miranda
warning it assures that the suspect realizes their rights that anything is said could be used
against them in court trial.

Gideon v. Wainwright

The sixth amendment stipulates that defendants in offenses have had the right to an attorney for
the case. Gideon asked the court to assign him a lawyer. Because it was not a capital crime, the
court refused him. The Supreme Court invalidated a constitutional provision requiring
governments to give legal representation in circumstances when a defendant cannot afford
counsel on his or her own.

14th Amendment

It asserts that any individual born in the United States is a citizen of the United States,
regardless of where your parents are from or where you were born. They are citizens regardless
of whether their parents are in the country illegally. They are entitled to the same rights and
advantages as any other citizen. The decision was decided in the Wong Kim Ark trial because
his parents were Chinese and not US citizens.
19th Amendment

Only women above the age of 21 have the ability to vote under the nineteenth amendment.
Between 1776 and 1807, Wyoming Territory granted women the right to vote in 1869. The
National Woman Suffrage Association gave the campaign for women's rights votes in 1869. The
right of American citizens to vote should not be denied.
