Written Assignment Unit 5: Online dating profile

For this assignment, I will be writing an online dating profile for the character “Carlo”

from the short story “Cruel Shoes” by Steve Martin.

Profile Name: Shoeguy72

Name: Carlo Green

Physical description: I am 6’3” which means I can reach all the top shelves, clean on top of the

fridge and quite easily change a lightbulb. I have short brown hair and could definitely be in

better shape, however, my shop prevents me from going to the gym. Apart from my protruding

belly, I am quite the looker, or at least my mother says so.

Likes: I really like shoes, all kinds of shoes, casual shoes, beach shoes, formal shoes and even

cruel shoes. If you come to my store I will gladly find you the perfect pair of shoes. I also like

long walks on the beach and reading the latest shoe fashion catalogues. I enjoy the company of

my cat and also enjoy watching people through my shop window as they stroll by.

Dislikes: I strongly dislike it when people wear shoes that don’t provide proper foot support. I

also despise fake leather shoes! The thing that grinds my gears the most must is people who

don’t blink - it creeps me out.

Desires in a date: I am looking for a funny and intelligent girl that can tell the difference

between a heel and a platform shoe. No need to be super fit or fit in a size 2 dress. You must also

like cats and be willing to have lunch at my store. If you pick me I won’t hesitate to give you a

special discount on your next pair of shoes!
