1. Should you provide counseling related to contraception?

If yes, what are the

factors that must be considered when providing information related to
contraception? If no, justify.
2. If the client agrees on the plan for contraception/ family planning, what approach
would be most appropriate for her (e.g. natural, artificial, surgical)? Justify your
chosen option
3. Due to financial constraints, the client decides for a natural family planning
method. In relation to that decision, what specific method of natural family
planning are you going to advocate? Similarly, how can this method of natural
family planning be described in terms of:
a. Perceived advantages and disadvantages
b. Effectiveness of contraception; and
c. Instructions of use?

1. Yes because the couple plans to concentrate first in their newly born baby, the
factors that must be considered when providing information related to contraception is
that the importance of having family planning and birth spacing. Also, it’s not only the
woman who gets to choose or decide about the plan for contraception or family
planning. The couple must have mutual understanding and decision in relation to how
many children they want to have, when to have them, and the method of family planning
they want to use and think is best for them. In fact, a written informed consent form has
to be signed by the husband. The beliefs of the couple must also be taken into
consideration.

2. I think the approach most appropriate for her will be natural because that is the safest
and it does not have any signs of complications or side effects to look out for. It also
does not require a lot of money compared to other methods in artificial and surgical, this
addresses and matches up with the couple’s financial problem.

3. I’m going to advocate for the calendar method, the advantage is that there’s no need
to spend money, to use any special equipment and procedures, and there’s no side
effects involve. The disadvantage is it will not be effective if the woman has irregular
menstrual cycle. The effectiveness is based on fertility awareness. To use it the woman
has to calculate the number of days in each menstrual cycle then identify the length of
shortest menstrual cycle. Subtract 18 on the shortest, and 11 on the longest cycle.
