TYPES OF TOUR GUIDES

1. On site Guide - tour guides who specializes in conducting tours on-site in a specific
building locations. Examples are in machinery, factories, well-known skyscrapers,
building attractions and on some limited areas. The tour may be given by walking or
in some sort of a vehicle.

2. City Guide - are tour guides that offers tourist with an experience about cities
popular highlights. Introducing eye-catching places and try to make the best moments
memorable and fun during the travel of the clients. Giving informations regarding
suitable and nearest hotels to a certain place, giving insights about history of the city.
Mode of touring is usually from a motor coach, minibus, or van, but walking is still
the best part of a city tour.
3. Professional tour guide - Professional tour guides usually works in connection with
travel agencies. As a professional tour guide they may have plenty of tours within a
day with groups of people in different batches as scheduled, but sometimes they can
also come with you for days, weeks or up until when your travel journey schedules
are. The professional tour guides must have a sense of knowledge within a city or
region for a positive information to tourists. This kind of guide may also be deployed
to tours outside the country.
4. Amateur tour guide - Some of which are part-time tour guides or known as amateur
tour guides, these people are those who do not take tour guides as their main
occupation, but use guides in their spare time. Tour guides which are new ones can
help you in touring on a low cost.

5. Linguist- is a a person skilled in foreign languages, must speak two or more

Turkish. Before becoming a Tour Guide, Helin was one of the youngest elected

degree in Public Administration from US State University.
6. Driver Guide - A driver guide will act as your driver and tour guide at the same
time. Commonly, less knowledgeable than the tour guide but not everyone, it still
depends since most of driver guides around the world can adopt languages through
their experience with the tourist they encounter. Communication plays a vital role as a
driver guide, so you can provide the most important information. This kind of tour
guide drives while guiding.

7. Community tour guide - A kind of tour guide and a tourism professional that lead
their guests through the most interesting parts of their region. It is their task to
entertain visitors to it’s region and help them interpret the sights that they are visiting.
8. local guide - Sort of like similar with the community tour guide, locals will be the
one who will help you access with destinations within a certain local destination.

9. Staff guide - is a kind of tour guide who works in a travel agency or company.
10. Freelance guide - Are independent guides who carry out guiding duties for a
selected tour group. You can host yourself if you’re interested in becoming a freelance
tour guide during the pandemic. Tour guide freelancing will be a cool side if you need
extra cash or if you are currently unemployed you can do tour guiding full time but on
a freelance level.

11. Private or personal - The tour is run exclusively for you without strangers. And
usually take small number of individuals on their own exclusive tour.
12. Specialized guide - Specialized tour guides has attainments of academic degrees
or certificates in hand and has equipped with knowledge and skills in tour guiding.
Also, specialized tour guides are the ones who’s in charge in accompanying you with
your entire list of the itinerary. Specialized tour guides must posses many different
high-quality personality and behavioral characteristics, must be flexible and
confident. May also have the chance to travel many countries around the globe with
all paid expenses.

13. Step on guide - The role of a step-on guide is to join a group on a designated
location and step on the coach to provide guided commentary of the sights, locations,
and history of a local place. They then leave the group and the company continues on
with its itinerary.
