Why I chose this Advocacy.
According to American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Drug addiction
among teenagers includes both legal and illicit substances. Alcohol, prescription
drugs, inhalants (such as glue, solvent, and aerosol fumes), and over-the-counter
cough, cold, sleep, and diet pills are all examples of substances that are legally
accessible. Marijuana (pot), stimulants (cocaine, crack, and speed), LSD, PCP,
opiates or opioid painkillers, heroin, and designer drugs are the most often used
illicit substances (Ecstasy). Illegal drug usage is on the rise, particularly among
younger youth. Alcohol usage can begin as early as age 12, while the average age
of first marijuana use is 14. In high school, marijuana and alcohol usage has grown
widespread.

Objectives
My goal is to alter students' attitudes toward drugs and try
to reduce the prevalence of drug usage in both schools and
the broader society.

Programs that support this Advocacy
NIH researchers have laid the ground for significant discoveries that
enhance health and save lives for more than a century. In actuality, NIH has
funded 156 Nobel Prize winners. Numerous additional innovations have
resulted from their research, including the creation of MRI, knowledge of
how our brains interpret visual information, insights into cholesterol
regulation, and knowledge of how viruses may cause cancer.
