Advocacy Campaign

For Teenage Drug

Addiction

Bethan Baloso 2022 July 5

Why I chose this Advocacy.
I chose this advocacy because I want to spread awareness to teenagers that
drugs is not the answer to their problem. Addiction to drugs is often
accompanied with mental health problems. Because they both depend on one
another, it is essential to be conscious of drug addiction. It enables us to talk
about every aspect of the issue. Promoting open communication among users
and others who have been impacted by drug addiction is key.

2
Why I chose this Advocacy.
According to American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, Drug addiction
among teenagers includes both legal and illicit substances. Alcohol, prescription
drugs, inhalants (such as glue, solvent, and aerosol fumes), and over-the-counter
cough, cold, sleep, and diet pills are all examples of substances that are legally
accessible. Marijuana (pot), stimulants (cocaine, crack, and speed), LSD, PCP,
opiates or opioid painkillers, heroin, and designer drugs are the most often used
illicit substances (Ecstasy). Illegal drug usage is on the rise, particularly among
younger youth. Alcohol usage can begin as early as age 12, while the average age
of first marijuana use is 14. In high school, marijuana and alcohol usage has grown
widespread.

3
Objectives
My goal is to alter students' attitudes toward drugs and try
to reduce the prevalence of drug usage in both schools and
the broader society.
