2.

In Cuba, an american blinded ship exploded without knowing why or how, while the upper
charges of the ship were in the spanish coast. So the people from UUSS said it was Spain´s fault
as an excuse for a war, but it is not sure. Other people said it was an accident, mainly spanish
investigators. Other said it was because a marine mine, or a sabotage. Another theory is that
the powder exploded due to changes in temperature or pressure.

3. As it was one of the worst ships that the marine of UUSS had, it makes me believe that it
was all planned in some way by the States: having bad-quality poder and making changes in
the temperature as one of the theory said, would have been a way to cover up their acts. Also,
why would Spain want to attack their enemy knowing that they may loose if a war starts?

4. What was the Fiji Mermaid. In the 1820s, an American sailor in Japan bought the mummified
body of a supposedly mermaid. 20 years later he sold it to a museum in Boston and was
named the Fiji Mermaid. It was some kind of monster, half fish half monkey. A biologist was
unable to determine that it was a fraud. But, in 1860 it disappeared after a fire.

5. After that, the Americans got involved in a war against Spain, taking away their colonies,
among them, of course, Cuba. This supposed a great decline for Spain and the people of her.
This period of decadence marked above all the generation of 95.
