What is an Embedded system
An embedded system is a computer system with a specific purpose within a
larger mechanical or electronic system. It consists of a computer processor,
computer memory, and input/output peripherals. A computer hardware and
software combination created for a particular purpose is an embedded
system. Additionally, embedded systems may operate as part of a bigger
system. The systems may be programmable or may only perform certain
functions.
How does it work
A microcontroller with on-board memory, a power source, and
communication interfaces for sending data to other devices make up
embedded systems. The microcontroller is instructed by embedded software
programs on how to react in real time to information gathered from the
environment by external sensors and devices.
Examples of Embedded systems
Examples of embedded systems include:
● Digital cameras.
● Digital wristwatches.
● MP3 players.
● Appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, and microwave ovens.
● Temperature measurement systems.
● Calculators.
Embedded system in a car
Adaptive cruise control, airbags, telematics, traction control, in-vehicle entertainment systems,
emission control systems, parking systems, navigation systems, collision sensors, climate control,
radio, and anti-lock braking systems are some of the embedded systems that are most frequently
used in vehicles. The driver may drive securely in traffic thanks to this system. For instance, when
the route is clear, it permits the driver to cruise at a set speed.
