What Embedded System is? The best definition of embedded system is a combination
of both software and hardware that perform a specific task to work. Merge of computer
structure with any mechanical or electrical setup. What is embedded system? This
setup makes a combination to perform a specific task or purpose is called an “Embedded
System”. These sorts of systemization control several devices are using in our daily life
commonly.
How Embedded System Works?
Let’s define all components, their applications with examples and its advantages;
Components of Embedded System:
There are three mains components of system embedded that make a combination to act
any task;
Input Device (Computer Program Device)
Micro Controller (Processor or Brain)
Output Device
In any electronic system, hardware platform is an essential part in which it performs the
operation. Hardware’s are built with microprocessors or microcontrollers. Ingrained co-
ordinations have main elements like I/O (Input /Output) interface. Usually installed pattern
has: Power supply, Processors, Memory, Timer, Input /Output circuit etc.
A general purpose of Microcontroller is that devices are used to control, monitor or help
the equipment’s during the operations of machinery or any imbedded devices.
In automobile sector embedded engineering technology is using in cars anti- lock brake
system (ABS), electronic stability control: this ESC /ESP control system is a confined
curb system that provides the drivers or riders better hold on cars or vehicles while
driving. Traction control: TCS is a safety feature in car that assist the vehicles to make
effective during running on the road while accelerating on low friction or unbalance road
surface. It prevent to keep unbalancing situation left / right move when increase the speed
of the car.
Automatic 4X4 Wheel Drive: The car manufacturing companies are providing
automatic four-wheel drive option in their vehicles that provide smooth drive.
Other encased specifications are under below:
Driver Assistance System: GPS, Audio System, Digital radio, night vision and lane
warning function, collision warning with adaptive cruise control, tire pressure monitoring
system, configurable instrument bunches,
Comfort and convenience with embed: internet access, DVD Player, rear seat
entertainment, head up display, car reverse assistance, multimedia system, telematics
etc…
Digital TV,
DVD Player,
Television or STB,
Personal Media,
Tablets,
Medical Devices,
Home Automation,
Auto Mobile,
Smart Phone,
Network Switch,
Firewall Gateway,
Modem or Router,
Networking,
Mobile computing,
Wireless communications,
Smaller Size: Since the utilization of am-bedded system in various fields, the
applications, gadgets and even our home appliances. These applications have now
become smaller rather than former goods.
Cost Efficient: Due to the modernization in technology, smaller components with most
efficient technology keep the prices and cost of production decrease. Due to the
advancement of technology with embedded stuffing.
Portability of Goods: Portable means small size of the applications. In modern age,
embedded technology is already using to make anything smaller than small that can be
carried in a pocket like calculator, smart phones, digital counters, digital watches and
many other gadgets.
Low Power Consumptions: In this modern era, embedded systems make everything
power efficient. Most of folks like to consume products that will be energy efficient. For
example, DC Invertor Air Conditioner, LED Bulbs, LCD TV and etc… are the well
renowned products in our daily life.
Real Time Response: Imbedded Systems are also known as real time systems. It has the
main purpose to react on exact time when any thing will happen out of the boundary. Air
bag is the better example of these systems. When, car and driver is facing the critical
situation of hitting or an accident the embedded system react on this critical situation and
blow the air bag to save the driver life.
