Assalamualaikum Wr.Wb,
Hi good afternoon Mam and everyone. Could I have your attention please ?
First of all, I would like to say thanks to u all for having me again today. How are u guys ? I
hope you are doing well.
Okey let me introduce my self again, my name is Muhmmad Hanif Hidayat, and you
can call me Hanif, I am studying at Semarang State Polytechnic, majoring in Electrical
Engineering. I am currently in the fifth semester at class LT3A.
Today I will bring a new topic, it is about Resistor, in every electrical circuit there
must be such a thing as a resistor. Basically, a resistor is a passive electronic component that
has a certain resistance value or resistance that function to limit and regulate electric current
in a electronic circuit.
There will be Q n A session after my presentation is done. Therefore if you have
question please keep them until the end of the presentation.
Well, we can make a start to my presentation
Based on our topic, we’ll go over from the definition of resistor, Material and symbol
of resistor, types of resistor, characteristic of resistor, and application of resistor.
First lets talk about what resistor is, Resistors are electronic components that
function to inhibit or limit the flow of electricity that flows in an electronic circuit. The unit
or resistance value of a resistor is called Ohm and is denoted by the symbol Omega (Ω). As
per Ohm's law that resistance is inversely proportional to the amount of current flowing
through it. In addition to the resistance value (Ohms) the resistor also has other values such
as the tolerance value and the power capacity that it can pass.
That’s a little explanation about the generally of resistor.

Okay, next we going to second topic, that is the materials and symbol of resistor.

 Resistor Material
Resistors can be made from a variety of components and films, even resistance wire
(wire made from high resistivity alloys such as nickel-chromium).
  Resistor Symbol

Each electronic component has a unique symbol for the purpose of making it easier
to distinguish it in electronic circuits, as well as resistors. Here are the symbols for resistors
in electronic circuits.

That’s material and symbol contained in the resistor, now we are moving on to third
topic that is characteristic of resistor.
The main characteristics of a resistor are its resistance and the electrical power it can
conduct. Other characteristics include temperature coefficient, electrical noise (noise),
and inductance. Resistors can be integrated into hybrid circuits and printed circuit
boards, even integrated circuits.

Now moving it the fourth topic that is types of resistor, based on the type and material
used to make resistors, they are divided into wire resistor, charcoal resistor, and metal oxide
resistors or metal film resistors.
 Wirewound Resistor

Wirewound resistor is a resistor that is made with a wire wrapped around it. So the
resistance value of the resistor is determined from the length of the wire wrapped
around it. Resistors of this type are generally made with a large power capacity

 Carbon Resistor

Carbon resistors are resistors made of charcoal or carbon as the main material. This
carbon resistor is a resistor that is widely used and widely traded

 Metal Film Resistor

Metal oxide resistors or better known as metal film resistors are resistors made with
metal oxide as the main material which has better characteristics. The physical form
of this metal film resistor is similar to that of a carbon resistor, only the color and
number of rings used in the assessment of the resistor are different.

Now we are moving to the last topic that is the application of resistor. Resistors in
Electronic Circuits include the following:
 • As a Current Limiter
• As a regulator of electric current
• As a Voltage Divider
• As a voltage reducer
