Positive H.R
Historical Revisionism
- the reinterpretation of a past event or the presentation of a new narrative
based on newly discovered facts.
-ascertain facts
-corroborate contending views
-produce impartial interpretation
"History is the continuing dialogue between the present and the past."

-history would be static without the practice of revisionism.
-History is an open ended book.

Historiography
-progressive, innovative discipline composed of varioius dynamic
research programs.
-it has the ability of reviving itself, constantly improve and expand
knowledge.
Significance-driven Revisionism
-underscores what historians consider important about the past and has
potential to incite better understanding of the present.
Value-driven Revisionism
highlights a unique set of values that historians employ in order to
evaluate historical events and its facets.
Negative H.R
-the most heinous form of H.R
"in common parlance, the word revisionism takes on a pejorative meaning because it
is associated with a vulgar use of certain historical events manipulated for
political ends and with complete lack of scientific foundation."
-use of the inevitability of human bias as an excuse to twist facts and spread
information.
-CORRUPTION OF THE SACRED DUTY OF HISTORIANS TO UPHOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT THE
PAST.
"The existence of negative revisionism, placates certain insecurities among
individuals or groups." Tucker (2008)
These therapeutic values usually compliment political motives because they 1.) deny
historical guilt, 2.) promote self-respect (for an individual or group), or 3.)
eliminate a sense of alienation and absurdity (through conspiracy theories).
-the act of disregarding evidence in favor of a certain bias.
