FINDING THE BALANCE

Do you feel as if you have no time for yourself? Do you forget to

call your family on birthdays or holidays? Have you stop going out
with friends because you are too busy? Do you have trouble relaxing
or having fun?

Then, you are workaholic. Are you denying the problem? That is one
of the first symptoms, because the word “addict” means sick so no one
likes to be called an addict.

Distortion of reality. A workaholic looses track of time, especially

when he or she has to eat. They prefer to think they have already
eaten, and continue working.

Control freak. This person wants to control everything and everyone

around him or her. This makes this person feel anxious, while
colleagues react negatively.

Neurotic behavior. This person becomes easily, irritated or angry

and wants to work alone, because he can´t tolerate other people.

The person who has this illness can hurt himself psychologically,
socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically. Furthermore,
they may hurt those around them at work, home, etc.

If you recognize yourself as a workaholic, you should remember to

slow down and schedule time for everything. Living a well balanced
life is about integrating all vital areas of your life, including
your health, spiritually, friends, family, work, and romance.

There are some tips for restoring a healthy daily life. First,
remember to spare time for important people in your life. Stop over-
scheduling and start spending quality time with friends and family.
Second, learn to eat, talk, walk, and drive more slowly. Don’t
forget to turn your cell phone off sometimes. People who really want
to talk to you will call your back or leave a voice message. Third,
learn to live in the present and stop worrying about the future.
Finally, take it easy and start enjoying the simple things in life.
Stop to smell the roses, for instance.

Dear Me. Green

On April 15th, a young woman by the name of Graciela Pienda applied to our
Human Resources Department for a position as Assistant Secretary in our
Insurance Department. She told us that she worked for you during six years and
that you allowed her to use your name as a reference.

We have an vacant position for which we are considering her. However, before we
employ her, we would like o have more information about however. We must be
especially careful in the selection of the person who fills this opening, for it calls for
the handling of a good deal of confidential information.

We would like to know the following in particular:

1. Is she a Guatemala citizen?
2. To your knowledge, is she a member of any organization whose purpose is
the strengthening of the Government?

Besides, we should appreciate any other information that may be helpful to us.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Cordially yours,
