Ceftriaxone : Treatment of susceptible infections
Class : as cephalosporin antibiotics.
Side effects : Discomfort with IM administration,mild diarrhea, mild
abdominal cramping
metronidazole (Flagyl) : Treatment of anaerobic infections
class : antibiotics (nitroimidazole antimicrobials)
Side effects : Systemic: Anorexia, nausea, dry mouth, metallic taste.
Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) : Relief of mild to moderate pain,
fever.
Class : analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers)
Side effects : Rare: Hypersensitivity reaction

Diclofenac (voltarin) to Mild to moderate pain


Class Analgesic, anti-inflammatory
Side effects Frequent (9%–4%): PO: Headache, abdominal cramps,
constipation, diarrhea, nausea, dyspepsia.

Metoclopramide (Plasil) gastroesophageal reflux


Class : GI emptying adjunct, peristaltic stimulant, antiemetic
Side effects Drowsiness, restlessness, fatigue, lethargy.

Cefotaxime (Claforan) Treatment of susceptible infections (activevs.

Salbutamol (ventolin)( butalin) : used to relieve symptoms of asthma
and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) such as coughing,
wheezing and feeling breathless
Salbutamol ( Butalin Syrup ) : Reducing the tightness of the chest,
wheezing, and cough, leading to relief of the breath class
bronchodilators
Samilin syrup used to treat coughs and congestion caused by the
common cold, bronchitis, and other breathing illnesses
solvodin syrup For a wet cough that contains sputum, which is an
expectorant and bronchodilator, as it dissolves sputum and expels it from
the body.
Class : bronchodilators
Side effects nervousness or shakiness, headache, throat or nasal irritation,
and muscle aches. (tachycardia)
Antipyrol , adol : syrup for Pain relieve and reduce fever
Aminophylline (Theophylline) treatment of bronchospasm due to

Erythromycin : Treatment of susceptible infections

Side effects : IV: Abdominal cramping/ discomfort,
phlebitis/thrombophlebitis.

Omeprazole : Short-term treatment (4–8 wks) of erosive esophagitis


(diagnosed by endoscopy), symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease
(GERD) poorly responsive to other treatment.
Class Proton pump inhibitor.
Epinephrine Treatment of asthma , anaphylaxis, hypersensitivity
reaction, cardiac arrest.
Class Antiglaucoma, bronchodilator, cardiac stimulant, antiallergic,
antihemorrhagic, priapism reversal agent.
Side effects Systemic: Tachycardia, palpitations, anxiety.
Hydrocortisone : Management of adrenocortical insufficiency,
antiinflammatory, immunosuppressive.
Class Glucocorticoid. Adrenal corticosteroid.
Side effects Insomnia, heartburn, anxiety, abdominal distention,
diaphoresis, acne, mood swings, increased appetite, delayed wound
healing

3. ICU (kidney disease)
Sodium Bicarbonate : Management of metabolic acidosis, gastric
hyperacidity. Alkalinization agent for urine; hyperkalemia treatment;
Class : Antacid electrolyte, urinary/systemic alkalinizer.
Side effects : Frequent: Abdominal distention, flatulence, belching
calcium gluconate : Acute hypocalcemia, electrolyte depletion, cardiac
arrest (strengthens myocardial contractions), hyperkalemia
hypermagnesemia (aids in reversing CNS depression)
Class : Antacid, antihypocalcemic, antihyperkalemic,
antihypermagnesemic, antihyperphosphatemic. (Electrolyte replenisher)
Side effects . PO: Chalky taste. Parenteral: Pain, rash, redness, burning
at injection site; flushing, nausea, vomiting, diaphoresis, hypotension

eprex (Epoetin) artificial erythropoietin use to treat type of anemia


caused by kidney disease

SOPA-K : prophylaxis and to treat the symptoms of Hypokalemia

Vitamin B6 prevents and treats low levels of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine)

irritation. Intranasal: Burning, mucosal dryness

prednisolone : Systemic: Endocrine, rheumatic, hematologic disorders;


collagen, respiratory, neoplastic, GI diseases; allergic states;
acute or chronic solid organ rejection
class Adrenal corticosteroid.
Side effects Frequent: Insomnia, heartburn, nervousness, abdominal
distention, diaphoresis, acne, mood swings, increased appetite, facial
flushing, delayed wound healing, increased susceptibility to infection

Furosemide (Lasix) : Treatment of edema associated with HF and


renal/hepatic disease; acute pulmonary edema. Treatment of hypertension,
Class Diuretic
Side effects Expected: Increased urinary frequency/ volume. Frequent:
Nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea or constipation, electrolyte
disturbances.

Albumin : injection is used to treat low blood volume (hypovolemia). It is


also used to treat low albumin levels in the blood (hypoalbuminemia)

Side effects Blue lips and fingernails. coughing that sometimes produces
a pink frothy sputum. difficult, fast, noisy breathing., itching, skin rash.

Spironolactone (Aldactone) Management of edema associated with


excessive aldosterone excretion or with HF; hypertension; cirrhosis of
liver with edema or ascites, hypokalemia, nephrotic syndrome
Class Potassium sparing diuretic, antihypertensive, antihypokalemic.
Side effects Frequent: Hyperkalemia (in pts with renal insufficiency,
those taking potassium supplements), dehydration, hyponatremia ,
lethargy.

used for the treatment and prevention of vitamin D deficiency.

Indomethacin Treatment of active stages of rheumatoid arthritis,


osteoarthritis. Relieves acute bursitis, tendonitis. Treatment of mild to
moderate acute pain in adults

Ampicillin : Treatment of susceptible infections due to streptococci, S.
pneumoniae, staphylococci (non–penicillinase producing),meningococci,
Listeria, some Klebsiella, E. coli, H.influenzae, Salmonella, Shigella.
Class : Antibiotic (Penicillin family)
Side effects Pain at IM injection site, GI disturbances (mild diarrhea,
nausea, vomiting), oral or vaginal candidiasis
gentamicin (Garamycin) Treatment of infections susceptible to
Pseudomonas and other gram-negative organisms and gram-positive
Staphylococcus
class : Antibiotic (Aminoglycoside family)
side effects : IM: Pain, induration at injection site. IV: Phlebitis,
thrombophlebitis, hypersensitivity reactions
Vancomycin (Vancocin) : Systemic: Treatment of infections caused by
staphylococcal, streptococcal spp. bacteria.
Class Antibiotic
Side effects Frequent: PO: Bitter/unpleasant taste, nausea, vomiting,
mouth irritation solution).

headache, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, hypoxia, urinary retention.
Esomeprazole (Nexium) Short-term treatment (4–8 wks) of erosive
esophagitis (diagnosed by endoscopy); symptomatic gastroesophageal
reflux disease (GERD).
Class Gastric acid inhibitor.
Side effects Frequent (7%): Headache.

Nystatin Treatment of cutaneous, intestinal, oral cavity, infections caused
by Candida spp
Class Antifungal.
Side effects PO: None known. Topical: Skin irritation.

Morphine : Relief of moderate to severe, acute, or chronic pain;


Class Opiate analgesic.
Side effects nausea, vomiting Sedation, decreased B/P diaphoresis
constipation, dizziness,

Warfarin : Prophylaxis, treatment of thromboembolic disorders and


embolic complications arising from atrial fibrillation or valve replacement

Side effects GI distress (nausea, anorexia, abdominal cramps, diarrhea).

Side effects Peripheral paresthesia, alopecia, constipation/obstipation
abdominal cramps, headache, jaw pain, hoarseness, diplopia,

Cytarabine Remission induction in acute myeloid leukemia (AML),


treatment of acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and chronic myelocytic
leukemia (CML)
