The Roman Civilization


The Roman Civilization was recognized to be the strongest
political and social entity in the west. This civilization
was considered as the cradle of politics and governance
during the period.

The newspaper know as the gazettes


is one of the major contribution of
the Romans. The gazettes contained
the announcements of the Roman
Empire to its people. It was invented
before the making of papers, The
gazettes were engraved in metal and
stone tablets and it was displayed
publicly. When the paper was invented
Romans can now easily published the
newspaper that needed the attention
of the citizen.

Record Keeping and writing down


everything that happened that time
is much more easier with the help of
paper. Julius Caesar started a
tradition of stacking up papyrus to
form pages of the book. The first
cover was made of wax to protect
the papers but it was able to
improve the cover by using animal
skins to make it stronger and lasts
longer and through this Roman
Empire was able to produce the
first book or known as the Codex.

The Roman architecture was


considered and the continuation
of the Greek architecture. The
Romans were able to adapt new
buildings and engineering
technology on architectural
designs that were established in
the past. They were able to
redesign old architectural
patterns to adapt the new
trends at that time and with
that they were able to
implement major projects such
as large churches (Cathedrals
and Basilicas), Aqueducts,
Coliseums, Amphitheaters and
residental houses

Romans devised their own


number system known as the
Roman Numerals to address
the need for a standard
counting method that would
meet their increasing
communication and trade
concerns.
