Personal Report

Hello, I am Rominta Sastriana Bakara, and my nickname is Sastri. I am really glad to attend the
foreign seminar held by Shandong Foreign Trade Vocational College Mengwenwen. This is
because the topic of the seminar “E-commerce Development Strategy for Belt and Road
Countries” is related and very useful to my task in office (DGT) in Indonesia. It can enhance my
knowledge and understanding about the business process of ecommerce player and in the end I
hope I can help my institution to make some better analysis in making some good policies that
can support the ecommerce business in Indonesia. The support that can be given from my
institution, DGT, is to give the simplicity on tax administration for ecommerce player. In order to
achieve that goal, we as DGT should know better how the ecommerce business run around the
world.

After learning and hearing the explanation from some qualified professor and lecturer of
Shandong College, I think I have a better understanding and knowledge for ecommerce business
process, beside, my insight also is broaden as well. As the matter of fact, I never really know the
detail of how ecommerce business be going on a certain age because I am not a player at all in
that business rather I am only user who use the ecommerce platform to provide my daily basis.
Therefore, this seminar gives so much the new information for me personally. Besides, the
professor, the lecturer and the speaker from ecommerce field not only deliver their knowledge but
also share their experiences in the ecommerce itself that makes it is much more interesting and
charming. Over all, all of the presenters do their best in giving the material explanations and they
answer all of the questions from participants even though some of the questions out of the topic.
From the materials for the course that provided by them, I think they are quite updated and
sufficient enough to fulfill our hungry for the knowledge, moreover, the presentations are unique,
easy to understand, colorful, and informative.

For almost 14 days study together with other participants from different countries, I want to share
what I get so far. China becomes the largest ecommerce market and their online shopping
penetration rate is in the top rank all over the world. There are a range of factors that should be
considered why ecommerce market in China is booming. The main reasons can be summarize in
a set of points:
1. Population.
China is one of the largest population in the world. This leads that country to a great size
of online shoppers and a strong demand in domestic market. Most of China population
use mobile phone in their daily activities including for shopping.
2. Policy
China and its government have adapted many strategies and measures to promote the E-
commerce development. The strategies and measures promoting policy enhance the
development of ecommerce for enterprises. The government follows the updating
development in business and decide to make the policy that give benefits for their
enterprises.
3. Technology
The mature E-commerce relating technologies facilitates the promotion of various
industries, especially those related to the Big Data, Internet security, Online payment and
Mobile technology. Without the advanced technology it is possible to promote ecommerce.
4. Enterprise
The role of internet companies bring the result that most of the traditional ecommerce
companies are transforming to the New Model. The industry chains of BAT (Baidu,
Alibaba, Tencent) cover a large area in China and it is expected to keep growing in future.
And other related industry will take a big part or role on ecommerce business.
5. Basic infrastructure
Internet infrastructure develops rapidly, especially the Mobile Internet. Nowadays, 4G
smart phone has already used for most of the domestic smartphone market. And currently
5G becomes the new breakthrough for China mobile phone user.
6. Marketing strategy
The marketing of products is a key to make a big success in ecommerce. Social network
has become an important way for people to obtain information in China. Social media
marketing is a good choice to promote the products. China has its own brand of social
media, such as WeChat, Sina Weibo, Qzone, Youku, Tiktok, etc. These social media
feature real time reactions and help marketers interact with users in a creative manner.
Even with limited budget, companies or brands can communicate with target consumers
via real time marketing tools. Most of the ecommerce player optimize their marketing by
using those platform.
After all, in the future I will look forward for the chance/opportunities to enter the ecommerce
business but before I do that I think I should learn or make plan business more and more. Since
I work in governmental institution, I think the knowledge from this seminar will be helpful to us in
making the policy for the ecommerce player. And I hope I can have another opportunity to attend
the foreign seminar like this.
