To answer the questions consider two systems that are relevant to your knowledge and your past experience with
information systems. Some examples are:

⓿ an accounting information system of a firm ⓿ a personnel information system of a firm

⓿ a credit information system of a bank ⓿ an order-processing system of a e-trade establishment

⓿ an appointment and patient monitoring system of a hospital

⓿ a logistics monitoring system of a cargo delivery business,

and similar systems of this nature can be considered.

Question 1. [35 points]

Prepare a Data Flow Diagram for the first system you selected. The diagram should resemble 3 levels. It should
include the context diagram, diagram 0, and diagram 1 levels. All levels should be illustrated. Levelling and balancing
principles should be given a special emphasis.

After constructing your diagram, select an essential process within the system you analyzed. Suppose you are
preparing a data dictionary, hence, prepare a process description for the process selected. The details/areas you use
in your process description, their selection and application/illustration will be freely defined by yourself.

Question 2. [35 points]

Prepare a Use Case Diagram for the second system you selected. Take into account the relationship types
(extend/include) between various use cases illustrated in your diagram.

After constructing your diagram, select an essential use case within the system you analyzed. Prepare a
description/written statement for this use case. The details/areas you use in your description/statement will be
defined according to the Cockburn template for writing use cases.

Question 3. [30 points]

Select a process from one of the systems you analyzed in Questions 1 and 2. You should not select the process you
have already analyzed in Question 1 process description. Select another one. Model the process you selected with
using Activity Diagram. Construct your diagram with taking into account the functional areas within your system.

Best wishes.
