a) Should Pepe accept the invitation or not? Give arguments on why he should or not accept the trip?

Explain your answer.

As a future civil engineer, I will decline the invitation. Why? Because it is specified in the civil engineer's
professional obligations that they should not allow conflicts of interest to interfere with their professional
responsibilities. It is against the law for civil engineers to specify a product based on financial or other
considerations from equipment or material suppliers. Although Pepe did not intend to utilize or recommend the
cement mix that they had used, he did propose it since he had seen the cement mix's potential. But even so, he
shouldn't accept the offer, especially since he has no connection to the company's salesman, Gabby. In
conclusion, rejecting the offer is the best course of action in this circumstance. So that Pepe could keep his good
name in their company and to keep any rumors away from him.

a) Who is ultimately responsible for checking the safety of final designs as depicted in shop drawings?

WGD Construction Incorporated, who was hired by the contractor, is in charge of examining the safety of the
final designs as shown in shop drawings. Additionally, they consented to offer the project with all structural
engineering services required. With that said, they are the ones who should be reviewing if there has been a
change to their original plan; hence, if the JB Steel Company makes adjustments, the WGB must be the one to
review them and accept them if they are safe.
b) In terms of meeting building codes, what are the responsibilities of the engineer? The fabricator? The
owner?

It is the engineer's duty to develop a plan that complies with the established building codes in order to follow
and meet them. The engineer's responsibility is to make sure that the plans he creates adhere to the standards
established by the codes. The fabricators' responsibility is to carry out the designs created by the engineer in a
way that prevents the project from failing. Additionally, if they ever wish to make changes to the plan, they must
consult the engineer. The owner's responsibility is to permit on-site project representation to inspect all
fabrication during the building phase.
c) What if the call was not made? While responsibility rests with the fabricator for violating building codes,
would the engineers involved in the case be off the hook? Why or why not?
The project's engineers will still be held accountable for what transpired even if the call wasn't made. Because
they are the engineers in charge of building, they must nevertheless verify that the fabricator is adhering to the
designs. It is their responsibility to periodically ensure that the plans they made are being carried out.
d) Should Luna and Pilato be allowed to practice engineering? Why or why not? What is the engineering
society's responsibility in this realm?
Luna and Pilato must not be permitted to conduct engineering after what happened. Their licenses should be
revoked due to the catastrophe that resulted from their carelessness in this situation. They did not adhere to
Canon 1, which requires them to safeguard public safety by developing facilities that are secure and that adhere
to the standards outlined by the code.
