5. Use the correct tool for the job
6. Proper ventilation keeps you healthy
7. Guards are placed on tools and machines for safety. Do not alter or remove them
8. Keep floors free from backpacks and debris
9. Observe “Safety Zones” around machines. Only the operator and instructor are allowed
in these zones. Allow for a 6ft distance between people
10. Never sit on a piece of machinery
11. Compressed air can be dangerous! Never point it your eyes or ears.
12. Safety glasses must be worn whenever you or another student using a tool/machine or
in the shop.
13. Horseplay, messing around, goofing off is never allowed.
14. Have the instructor double check your setup
15. Unplug tools before making adjustments
16. Make sure the switch is in the off position before plugging in any power tool
17. Unplug tools by pulling the plug not the cord.
18. Report damaged tools to the instructor at once, and unplug it! This will keep other
students from possible serious injury!

22. Watch what your are doing! Focus your attention on the task at hand
23. Caution another student if you see them doing something dangerous. Let the instructor
know the tool
24. Sharp tools cut better, require less effort, and are much safer! Let the instructor know if a
tool is dull!
25. You are responsible for reporting any situation that could cause you to be a hazard to
yourself or others.
26. You must pass the safety test and receive instruction on each specific tool/machine
before operating it.
