Unit 1

Dear Parent/Caregiver,

Your child is about to start Unit 1 of their English coursebook American Tiger 1.

In this unit your child will learn to identify classroom objects and activities they do at school. They will also
learn how to read and write these words. They will listen to the unit story Back to School and the cartoon
story with Ping and Pong. They will also sing and act out the songs Can I have this pen, please? and I draw
at school, and say Tiger’s word chant. In addition, your child will learn a traditional rhyme Two, four, six, eight
and read about school uniforms some children wear. Pronunciation practice of the sound ‘p’ will be provided
through fun activities and chants. Finally, the children will complete their American Tiger Progress Journal.
