the impact of genetic manipulation in our daily lives and in the society.

some uses of genetics;

 Genetics helps us understand the reason of our image, like how we look like, and why some
people are more likely to have certain diseases than others.
 Genetics is really helpful in the medical field. It is more crucial than anyone could imagine. One
of those is It can help health-care professionals to identify/ determine certain conditions in
babies before they are born using techniques such as prenatal testing.

I’m sure most of us cried while cutting onions, right? And it isn’t easy, it really burns your eyes for so
long and it makes you tear up, and obviously we hate it. But don’t worry! Professionals to the rescueIn
2008, a New Zealand research team produced an onion that does not make you cry while cutting
it. Interestingly, the insertion of a single gene which down regulates the activity of the onion
enzyme that makes your eyes water has managed to achieve two things: firstly, onions no longer
make your eyes water, and secondly, they now have even more health beneficial sulphur-
containing substances than regular onions.

Aside from onions, Researchers also identified so many things, using genetic manipulation.

1. Ugandan scientists have successfully used a genetic modification,

inserting a pepper gene into bananas, which prevents the fruit from
getting the disease.
2. More nutritious food, Tastier food. In short, it improves a food’s taste, it makes it
more appetizing. Genetic engineering helps speed up the process of creating new foods
with desired traits, such as potatoes that produce less of a cancer-causing substance when
fried.- Also not to forget that through genetic manipulation, we could procuce
yeasts, wine, bread, and more.
3. genetic engineering has been applied to improve the durability, nutritional value and
growth rate of crops such as potatoes, tomatoes and rice.

Some benefits of genetic engineering in agriculture are increased crop yields, reduced costs for
food or drug production, reduced need for pesticides, enhanced nutrient composition and food
quality, resistance to pests and disease, greater food security, and medical benefits to the
world's growing population.

To summarize all of it, genetic manipulation has played a huge role in agriculture, medical field,
in terms of food, and the list goes on, until now, researchers have been finding ways to make
our world to have a better place, especially these days, us experiencing the pandemic.
