INSTRUCTION TO CONTRIBUTORS
Indian Journal of Natural Fibres, published half yearly by The Indian Natutal Fibre Society, is devoted to the publication of
communications embodying the results of original research works in different branches of science and technology of natural

research by providing a perspective in addition to surveying critically a topic or theme. Papers are accepted on the understanding
that the reported work is original and has not been submitted elsewhere for publication, that the proper citations to the previously
reported works have been given, and that in case of data, Tables or Figures are quoted verbatim from some other publication,
the required permission to do so has been obtained.
Manuscript
Manuscript should be submitted by post along with the soft copy in CD or by email as an attachment using the word processing
software MS Word. Manuscript should be presented in as concise a form as possible and typed in 1.5 line space on one side of
paper, each page being numbered. Mattter should be arranged in the following sequence:

word (except prepositions) cap only. If a paper forms part of a series, a subtitle indicating the aspect of the work covered in

(d) Keywords: About 5-6 keywords in alphabetical order should be provided.

(e) Introduction: This section should be brief and state precisely the scope of the paper. Literature review should not exceed
what is necessary to indicate the objective of the research undertaken and the essential background. Each reviewed work
should have reference(s) at the end of its content in the style: ….. text (Bose, 2015, Ghosh, 2016).
(f) Materials and Methods: This section should report the materials used and methodology adopted in the study. This section
should be subtitled as ‘Materials’and ‘Methods’, which can have further sub-headings for clarity.
(g) Results and Discussion:

to the published ones. Only such data as are essential for understanding the discussion and main conclusions emerging from
the study should be included. The same data should not be presented in both tabular and graphic forms.
(h) Conclusion: It should stem directly from the data presented and no extra material should be introduced. The conclusion
should also include negative results and recommendations (based on the results), if any.
(i) Acknowledgement: This should be brief and for special assistance only, not for routine ‘permission’ to publish, or such
trivial formalities.
(j) References: Every text citation should be listed under this section in alphabetical order. References to unpublished work and
citation from abstract must be avoided. The following style of quoting references should be followed:
Authors’ names (as Sen, K). Year of publication (say, 2016). Journal Name (italics), Vol(No) (say, 3(1)): pages
Authors’ names. Year of publication. Book title. Publisher’s name. Edition: pages to be referred
Authors’ names. Year of publication. In: Proc. Name & Venue of Conference (italics): pages
Authors’ names. Year of publication. Journal name (italics), Vol(No): pages
Tables: Tables should be typed on separate sheets and numbered consecutively within the text as Table 1, Table 2, etc. Each table
should bear on the top a brief title in lower case.

sheet and attached at the end of the manuscript. Photographs should be glossy prints – clear, sharp and with as much contrast as
possible without loss of detail.
Structural Formulae: They should be restricted to bare minimum and avoided by giving chemical / common names.
Equation: Equations should be set using the equation editor software. They may be numbered in parentheses to the right and
referred to in the text as Equation (1), Equation (2a), etc.
Abbreviations and Symbols: Standard abbreviations should be used in text, tables and illustrations without full stop.
SI units: The journal prefers the use of SI units for all numerical data and standard abbreviations of them. Units should be typed
following the style: g/tex, instead of gm tex-1, g/m2, instead of gm m-2, etc.
