Learning PLO1 - Understanding the theoretical foundations of retailing such as Retail
Objectives Strategy, Merchandising Management, Category Management, Store Management,
and Retail Pricing.
PLO2 - To acquire conceptual clarity of the various functional areas of retailing such
as SCM, EDI, RFID, VMI,CPFR, HR issues in retailing, CRM, financial
implications of retail decisions, retail promotions, etc.
PLO3 - To understand the various evolving formats of retailing: online and offline
PLO4 - To make sense of the evolving external environment and competitive factors
to make better strategic decisions.
PLO5 - Analysis and interpretation of the various kinds of data used to make
effective decisions in retailing at an operational level.
Learning Students will gain a conceptual understanding of the various retail concepts
Outcomes and theoretical foundations. (CLO1)
Students will understand the role of technology, AI, etc. as well the
functional areas in various formats of retailing (CLO2)
Students will know the best practices of retailing such as planning,
merchandising, category management, store management, etc. in various
formats of retailing. (CLO3)
Students will learn the retail strategy development process to adapt to
changing external environment and industry competition. (CLO4)
The contemporary issues in retailing like retail analytics, green retailing,
ethical issues in retailing, new formats of retail, etc. (CLO5)
