ORDIN NCE
AND wHEREAS. the National ssembly is not in session and the President is
satisfied that circumstances exist wh render it necessary to take immediate action;
l. Short title. extent and .--{ I) This Ordinance may be called the
Anti-Narcotics Task Force Ordi nce, 1992.

(2) The administration ofthe Force shall vest in the Di who shall exercise

5. Functions of the Force.-The Force shall inq into and investigate all
offences rclating to, or connected with, preparation, uction, manufacture,
transportation, traflicking or smuggling of intoxican narcolics and chemical
precursors or reagents used in the manufacture of n tics or dangerous drugs or
assets therefrom or any offence committed in the course the same transaction under
any law for the time being in force, including an attem or conspiracy to commlt, or
any abetment of, any such offence.
6. Powers of the members of the Force. -(I ubject to any order wh ich the
Federal Govemment may make in this behalf, the bers of the Force shall, fi)r the
purpose ofan inquiry or investigation under this ance, have throughout Pakilttan
such powers, including the powers relating to sea arrest ofpersons and seizure .rf
property, and such duties, privileges and liabili as a police-ollicer has in respect ol'
offences under the Code or any other law for time being in force.
(2) Subject to rules, a member ofthe F , not below the rank ofan Inspector
may, for the purpose ofany inquiry or investi tion under this Ordinance, exercise any
ofthe powers ofan o,fficer in charge ofa poli tation in any area in which he is for the
time being and, when so exercising such shall be deemed to be the officer in
charge of a police-startion discharging his ons as such within the limits of his
station.
(4) If, in the opinion ofa m ber ofthe Force conducting an investigation, any
property which is tlhe subject ma of the investigation is likely to be removed,
transferred, or otherwise disposed ff before an order ofthe appropriate authority for
its seizure is obtained, such mem may, by order in writing, direct the owner or any
person who is for t he time in possession thereof, not to remove, transfer, or
otherwise dispose ofIsuch prope y in any manner except with the previous permission

jurisdiction in the matter.
(6) Any member of the Force may seek assistance all officers of police,
customs, excise, Federal Investigation Agency or civil armed forces in
performance of its functions and exercise of powers as be prescribed.
(7) Notwithstanding anything contained in any o r law for the time being in
force, the Federrrl Government may, in respect of any registered by or under
investigation of, police, customs, excise, Federal Inves tion Agency or any other
investigation agency or authority, by order in wri entrust inquiry or such
investigation tc, the Force, and thereupon the , customs, excis€, Federal
Investigation Agency or any other investigation or authority shall transfer the
record of the case to the Force.
(2) In particular and without prcj to the generality ofthe foregoing power
such rules may provide for all or any o the fotlowing matte rs. namely :-
(a) the terms and conditions service of the Directo r and other members
of the Force and the q lifications for recruitmernt to various posts;
(b) the powers and ofthe members ofthe Force in relation to the
conduct of inquiries investigations; and

(c) the manner in which rewards may be to the members of the Force
or to the public for rendering servrce.
