Prefix & Suffix Checkers

Board
Directions for set-up: I colored the squares to look like a checkers board (but used my school
colors instead), then cut out the board and glued both pieces to a piece of 12X12 cardstock.
Laminate and it’s ready to go. I bought checkers at my local dollar store.
Directions for play: Rules are the same as regular checkers with one addition – the student
must give a word that uses the word part of the space they are moving to. If the student
cannot give a word that correctly uses that word part, he/she cannot move to that space. If TpT Free Offering
they “jump” pieces to make a multi move, they must still give a word for each word root
they land on. I would have a third student act as the recorder, writing down the words used
so that no word was used more than once during a game, then have the recorder lay the
winner of the previous game to rotate.
