Determine the limits of use of the sensor.

PART1: Dimmer
1. How does a dimmer circuit work?

2. Can an incandescent lamp dimmer be used to control a fluorescent lamp load? Explain:

Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB), single phase 6A 1 Unit
Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELCB), single phase IΔn 30mA 1 Unit
Halogen Lamp with Fitting, 35 Watt 1 Unit
Multimeter
Screwdrivers
Cutter
Experiment Manual
 Observe the dimmer and answer the question below:
3.What is the voltage rating of the dimmer?

4.What is the wattage rating of dimmer?

5. Install halogen lamp on bracket and make circuit connection as shown in Figure below.

6.Ensure the circuit is correct and get approval from your Instructor to continue this experiment.
7.Turn ON ELCB, MCB and dimmer switch then observe the halogen
8.Set dimmer knob to multi-position and observe halogen lamp, record the data into table
9.Turn OFF dimmer switch, MCB and ELCB then do next experiment.
10. Draw the connection diagram of your system
