PART 1: WIRING AND PROGRAMMING FIRE ALARM

OBJECTIVE

After completing this experiment, you will be able to:

1. Sketch and draw the layout of fire alarm using 2 initiating device (Heat Detector and Smoke
Detector) , 1 signaling device (Horn) and Control panel in one zone
2. Perform the wiring of fire alarm system using 2 initiating device (Heat Detector and Smoke
Detector) , 1 signaling device (Horn) and Control panel in one zone 1
3. Install fire alarm component on the simulation zone frame

EQUIPMENT

1. Conventional Fire Alarm Trainer Frame

2. Heat detector (initiating device)
3. Smoke detector (initiating device)
4. Horn (notification device)
5. Infinity 8 Fire Alarm Control Panel
6. EOL (diode 1N 4002 and resistor 10K)
7. Two Batteries Backup @12VDC, 3.4Ah
8. Installation Cable
9. Measuring Tape
10. Manual

TASK
1. What does it mean “FACP” , “FACU”?

2. What is the meaning of zone?

3. How many zones on this fire alarm system?

4. What is the function of Common Base Terminal?

5. What is the function of EOL resistors and diodes?

6. What are the differences between Optical smoke detector, Ionization smoke detector, Heat
Sensor and Reset Call Point?

7. Using the manual, complete and draw the layout of a simple 1-zone fire alarm system
installation using 4 components in figure 1. Connect the installation.

8. Test the program of zone 1.

9. If you finish call the engineer «The engineer will create a fault in the system; the student
must find this fault and repair it.
10. Make Conclusion from your experiment
