the printer driver disk that was provided with the printer.
For the Post Installation Checks you will need to use the G3 Utility
software and ICL files (See chapter 6 'Alignments and Calibrations'
for more details on how to use G3 Utility and ICL files). Sections of
this chapter contain instructions for the verification of mechanical
movements and settings of the Galileo Echo components.
1.2.2 Incubator
1.2.3 Centrifuge
1. Place a strip holder with two strips and a piece of reflective paper
stuck on the front of the holder in ambient incubator tray 1
position 1.
2. Open the centrifuge service door
2. Shutter Speed
5. Manual Gain
Control
4. Auto WB Tracking

3. Color Level
Before performing the next steps verify that the G3Utility version is
1.170 or higher. From the pull-down menu go to ‘Help → About
G3Utility’ to identify the G3Utility version.
12. Select SSiizzee SSeettttiinnggss and check that the image size is set to
640x480. Click the O OKK button
13. Click on SSaavvee IIm
maaggee. Enter in the file name field the date and
iteration of the image and click SSaavvee. An example of file name is
18. Re-open the CAMERA ALIGN.ICL file and select the last
„TRANSPORT_HOLDER‟ command. Check the Step box and
press the R Ruunn C
Coom
mmmaanndd button until the strip holder is returned
to the strip tray and the lamp is off.
17. Tare an empty 10ml vial and put it at position 1 of a reagent rack.
18. Insert the reagent rack in lane 1.
19. Run the TEST PERI-PUMP.ICL file
20. Weigh the bottle filled up with PBS and calculate the volume of
liquid.
21. Record the measured value in the IQ form and check that the
volume is within the acceptable range.
22. From the Configuration menu (G3 Utility Options), turn on the
gating feature by checking the „Instrument Gating‟ option.
Probe accuracy 23. Number four empty strips, weigh them and load them into two
strip holders.
24. Load the strip holders in positions 1 and 2 of ambient incubator
tray 1.
25. Place a bottle filled with 10mL of PBS in position 1 of a reagent
rack.
26. Insert the reagent rack in lane 1.
27. Run the PROBE ACCURACY.ICL file.
28. Weigh each strip and record the volumes in the IQ form.
29. Verify that the measured values are within the acceptable range.
1.2.6 Washer
Check the 1. Verify that the manifold tubes and well sensor pins are not bent.
wash 2. Number two empty strips, weigh them and load them in a holder.
dispense 3. Load the strip holder in position 1 of ambient incubator tray 1.
accuracy 4. Run the WASH DISPENSE ACCURACY.ICL file.
5. Weigh each strip and record the measured value in the IQ form.
Compare with acceptable range.
6. Verify the wash precision by visually inspecting the fill volume of
the strips. Liquid level should be consistent between the 8 wells
of a strip.
Check the 7. Tare 2 strips and load them in a strip holder.
residual 8. Load the strip holder in position 1 of ambient incubator tray 1.
Volume 9. Run the RESIDUAL VOLUME.ICL file.
10. Weigh both strips and record the measured volume in IQ form.
11. Compare with acceptable range.
12. Verify the residual volume by visually inspecting the volume of
the strips. Liquid level should be consistent between the 8 wells
of a strip.
13. If adjustments required (residual volume too low or too high)
please refer to: chapter 6 'Alignments and Calibrations –
section 1.3.5 ‘Washer Residual Volume Adjustment'.
1. Place a reagent vial filled with water and with a stir ball in
position 4 of a reagent rack and insert it in lane 1 of the reagent
bay.
2. Run the TEST STIRRER.ICL file.
3. Observe that the stir ball always stays in contact with the bottom
of the bottle at any speed.
4. If the stir ball looses contact, the clearance between the moving
magnet and the base plate of the reagent bay must be adjusted.
Please refer to: chapter 6 'Alignments and Calibrations –
section 1.3.6 ‘Stirrer Clearance Adjustment'.
1. Install the top cover on the main instrument from the front: -
engage the bottom left and right casters on the corresponding
guide rails and slide the cover all along the rails. It is not
necessary to restart the instrument after installing the cover.
2. Launch the Galileo Echo control software.
3. Login with appropriate service user name and password.
4. Initialize the instrument and verify that all components of
instrument initialization pass.
5. Re-check for leaking at plumbing connections.
6. Go to Tools-General options-Service and enter the instrument
serial number in the correct field.
7. Open the Camera report and view the Calibration image. Verify
that the RGB Averages are 180 ± 5, the Max Diffs are less than
65, and the Deviation is less than 15.
