LBYCV1A: Subdivision of Lots via 12d

Project Activity 3

Setting up for Subdivision of Lots; Initial Lots

Name: Franchesca Marie Q. Gamboa Section: EH3 Set Data Used: Set D
• Objectives
o To create the front, back, and first edge of the traverse
o To fill up roughly half of the traverse with lots using:
▪ perpend start pt
▪ parallel pick
▪ pivot pick
▪ by picking segments
• Minimum Requirements of this Activity
a. Provide a screenshot of the following with correct inputs:

b. Learnings/Findings
Preceding project activity 2, this project activity allows the surveyor to
develop subdivided lots around the traverse by splitting the boundaries into three,
namely the front side, back side and first edge strings. These strings will help how
the lots will be created depending on the method or function used by the surveyor.
A certain amount of lot area will depend on the computations of the
software. There are instances that the software is not able to create a certain area of
lot. Different methods are presented to try which function suits best for the
coordinates or segments being selected. Constructing such arrangements of lots will
depend on the position of the created road boundaries with the cul-de-sac.
There are some points that need to be redone since the vertices/segments
selected are not valid. At some circumstance, the selected segments are valid but
no lot is created.

c. Conclusion
In order to successfully subdivide lots, one needs spatial intelligence and
the ability to actually picture the layout of the lots. Therefore, proper estimates and
estimations of how the area will be targeted are still necessary for the subdivision
of lots.
Being cautious when entering survey points and data is a crucial skill. It is
essential to carefully analyze how the lots will be formed in order to carry out the
project activity.
d. Discuss about your impression of using the software in relation to this project
activity.
I can personally say that this project activity is more confusing and
overwhelming, but it was fascinating to see how subdivision of lots works virtually
and how it will work on a concrete lot area. I struggled on the part of the lots using
different methods. It was a bit confusing how to determine which is the suitable
method for the selected segments or points.
