Rationale:
Disaster are as old as Mankind, disaster can be defined as an occurrence either nature or
man made that cause human suffering and creates human needs that victim cannot alleviate
without assistance.
The Philippines was the most disaster-prone country in the word for the past century and
the Philippine archipelago occupies the western rim of the Pacific Ocean, a most active part of the
earth that is characterized by an ocean- encircling belt of active volcanoes and earthquake
generators.
The teacher must determine the risks in their area that may happen which can be” natural
“or not "natural “by local emergency managers and the Red Cross and teachers should understand
the importance of different ways of preparing for any kind of disaster.
If accident happen, who is at a loss? If no accident happens, who can benefit? Without
accident, what are the benefits? It is with thoughts that this seminar is conceptualized.
Objectives:
At the end of the session, the participants should be able to:
1. Understand the importance of preparedness in emergency.
2. Identify the hazards of man-made and natural disaster that causes accidents in work place.
3. Determine the importance thing should prepare for disaster.
4. Prevent the danger or threat of any disaster.
5. Develop activities that are useful for both addressing everyday risks that communities face and
for responding to disaster situations.
