Project Description:

A new government high school is about to open its doors in the Moneague
Area and the Administration has hired
you as an IT specialist to assist with the following tasks:

 Generate registration forms and invitations for teachers to attend a

series of workshops
 Design and maintain a database of staff’s qualifications and
salaries from which to generate reports
 Use spreadsheets to analyze the present budget and make
projections for the following school year

The high school; MARA LAGO HIGH SCHOOL, is located at 12 Main Street,
Moneague.

Assume everything is in place for the start of the new school year:
 Students have been registered (4 first form classes)
 Teaching, administration and auxiliary staff have been hired (10
teachers, 2 administrators, 4 auxiliary)
 Furniture and all infrastructure are inplace
 Funding has been received from government and fees collected from students

SPREADSHEETS

1. Create a worksheet name STAFF TABLE that bears the following data for the analysis of the
present budget and as a basis for a projected budget.

The worksheet is required to record important information concerning staff members such as
Employee ID, first name, last name, job title, addresses , qualifications code, years of service in the
profession (1 to 35), number of subjects taught, Gross Pay, Income Tax and Net Salary. (The
personal ID will be identified by the person's initials and any two numbers e.g. KG00).

2. Each teacher teaches two or more subjects.

3. Auxiliary Staff may include secretaries, janitors etc. All auxiliary staff members must have at
least high school diplomas.

4. There will be two members who constitute the administration. Each member must have a
Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree in Education.
5. There should be at least two teachers for each qualification but no teacher should have an
Associate or High School qualification.

6. Each qualification must also have a code, which is identified as follows:

Code Qualification Gross Salary

HIGH High School $80,000.00
Associate
ASSOC Degree $100,000.00
Bachelor's
BACH Degree $160,000.00
Master's
MAST Degree $180,000.00
Doctorate
DOCT Degree $240,000.00
7.
Enter the table in the worksheet and use the correct function to assign a gross salary based off the
employees’ Code.

8. Income tax is 25% of gross salary in excess of $130,000.00. Calculate income tax and net pay.

9. Calculate the sum of currency columns in an appropriate cell

10. Save the worksheet as Task1.

11. Create another worksheet called SUMMARY TABLE. In order to analyze the current budget
and make projections, expenses must be calculated and categorized. Create a summary for this
information for the pre (now) and post (projected) analysis. Add the labels and all required
formulas and functions.

SUMMARY TABLE
Total Gross Salaries
Electricity
Water
Telephone
Stationery
Amount of staff
Highest net pay

i. Use an appropriate formula to insert the total net salaries.

ii. Use an appropriate formula to insert the following as a percentage of total gross pay:
Electricity (3.5%)
Water(2%),
Telephone(6.5%)
Stationery(3%)
iii. Calculate Amount of staff.
iv. Calculate Highest net pay.

12. Save the worksheet as Task2.

13. Sort the Spreadsheet by Category, Name and Net Pay in ascending order.

14. Perform a filter that extracts all the data for the members of staff who are in possession of a Bachelor's
Degree.

15. Create a pivot table that list the Employees ID and Net Pay for each employee.

16. An appropriate chart is to be generated showing the distribution of the overall budget by
expense categories. Add appropriate labels and titles to the chart.

17. Save the worksheet as Task3.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT

You were asked to computerize the records for the Administrative Department. Create a database MARA
LAGO DB.
NOTE: select the most appropriate field among the following tables as the Primary Key.
1. TABLES
 Import from STAFF TALE from Task 3 Workbook of the spreadsheet, the generated list of staff, and
save it as STAFF. Add five more staff members adhering to the principles and structures of the others.
 Create tables to store information about:
i. QUALIFICATIONS with the fields Code and Qualification as shown in the table below:
Save as QUALIFICATIONS.

Code Qualification
HIGH High School
ASSOC Associate Degree
BACH Bachelor's Degree
MAST Master's Degree
DOCT Doctorate Degree

QUERIES: Name each query correctly.

1. List of teachers showing only their first name, last name, job title and addresses. Save as Data.

2. Members of staff who teach more than two subjects. Save the query as SubjectQry

3. List of staff members who possess a Master's Degree. Save the query as DegreeQry

4. Make a copy of the staff table.

5. Those members of staff who have more than 10 years prior experience will get 5% increase in
salary at the beginning of the following school year.
 Determine the new gross salaries of these individuals when the 5% increase is added to the
current salary. Save the query as IncreaseQry

6. Create a Form to display information about STAFF with QUALIFICATION table as subform. Save as
STAFF FORM

7. Prepare a report with staff members, job title, qualification and their net pay, grouping by
qualification held and sort in descending order by name. The report should show a summary of total
net pay. Save the report as Staff Summary and enter a proper title for the report.
WORD PROCESSING

1. Create documents that include an invitation letter for workshops and a registration form for
teaching staff. Use the database query data as the data source for this mail merge.

a. Invitation letter:
 Create a letterhead containing any graphic (as school logo), the school’s name,
address, phone number and principal’s name.
 In the body of the letter, inform teachers of a meeting to a series of continuous
professional development workshops to be held during the second week in August
at the school ground. There must be at least two paragraphs and one of the
paragraph must be in two columns.
 Use the date 1st July 2021 for the letter, address it properly to each teacher
including all pertinent fields from the teachers query and make reference to their
continuous professional development hours. This means, you are expected to tell
them they should be there because this will add to their hours.
 Include at the bottom of the letter a small table with the names of the workshops
five dates, fees applicable (if any) and location. E.g. Testing & Measurement,
Methodology, Planning.
 Insert a suitale clipart at the bottom of the letter.
 The teachers will also be given a registration form. Indicate in the letter that
registration forms must be filled and returned within two weeks in order for
final arrangements to be made.
 Add the footer Education – key to a better future…to the entire document.

b. Execute the merge and save the letter as letter and the final merge letter as mergelet.

c. Applicationform:
 Design a fill able form that will be filled and returned by teachers who wish to join
the staff.
Use text boxes, date picker, drop down list, etc in a Table to create the form.
 Divide the form into sections as follows: personal information (name & contact
information), teaching status (qualifications, years of service, start date), workshop
interest (list of workshop choices), Skills (leave a text for skills entry), comments
and official use.
 Indicate return date and include spaces for signature and date.
 The Application form should have the school’s logo in the header
 Save as Applicationform.
Web Design
Create a website for the school that should act as a platform where stakeholders can gather data over the
internet.
The Home Page will have
1. Pictures which symbolize education
2. The school’s Logo placed in an appropriate location.
3. Extra-curricular acclivities to be offered at the school.
4. A section where options for navigations: School Motto & School’s Core Values, Application form and
Contact page.
