Due to the effects caused by the Covid 19, many sectors of the Philippines were greatly affected

such as education, transportation, and most of all economy. It is an undeniable fact that the
economy of the Philippines has gone down to drain after being the rising tiger of Asia. The
greatest contributor to the economy of the Philippines which is the sector of tourism has also lost
its value because of Covid-19 where travel restriction due to lockdown and the community
quarantine that has been happening for a year and counting until now.
To be able to battle the downfall of the economy here in the Philippines, 5 feasible ways can be
implemented or done to make the economy of the Philippines better again. First, we have to
support the local farmers and poultry owners by promoting and making them the dealers of the
products in the Philippines. According to the article published in Inquirer with regards to who
benefits from the importation of Rice, it is stated there that even if numerous amounts of imports
were made and the wholesale prices went down, the retail prices did not decrease which shows
that the middlemen who operate between the farmers and the consumers pocketed the gains
without giving any change to the consumers. Second, we have to give adequate assistance to the
farmers and not just loans, but instead, life long assistance that would not make the farmers
poorer such as ownership of the land that they have been using for a long period as compensation
for their efforts in sustaining economy and agriculture in the Philippines and as a right for the
land that is almost theirs. Third, we have to support and promote the local businesses in the
Philippines and provide adequate assistance to help them bounce back from the effects brought
by the covid-19 which are not loans because it would not be that helpful for the small business
owners if they would be subjected again for a new loan. We can provide help by allowing the
operations even if it is only a local operation and if we would promote the support for the local
businesses. Fourth, we must focus on the strengths and abilities of the Filipino workers and the
economical products of the Philippines such as the agricultural sector and Fisheries because
those are the main livelihood here in the Philippines. If we produce quality products and if we
would help our farmers and Fishermen, we would be able to import products to other countries.
Aside from that, according to the Documentary by Kara David entitle “Minsan Sa Isang Taon”,
Abaca is the main component that can be used in the production of money because of its
durability, hence, we can be a distributor of Abaca in the whole world if the government would
help the farmers of Abaca and would stop the quarrying and mining operations since most of the
Abaca can only be found here in the Philippines. We can set the price and product of Abaca
when we would export it to other countries because it is a significant material that would be
needed by the whole world. Lastly, the best way to be able to for the growth of the economy is to
have a concrete plan to battle the covid-19. We have to leave the stage of community quarantine
and we have to face it by providing real plans and assistance to the people. We have to make sure
that everything will get back to normal as soon as possible to make ways on how to stop the
continuous decline of the economy, hence, we have to focus on the real matters that this country
has to be competent and stop and avoid wasting your energy to the irrelevant and small matters.
