The Korean wave is significant in Filipino Pop Culture because it provides a fantastic opportunity to
highlight various cultures, people and their distinctive characteristics products of amusement. South
Korea is one of the few countries in the world that aspires to become one of the most important
exporters of popular culture. That is how Korea works, improves its soft power. Soft power is a broad
term coined by Harvard Political Scientist in 1990. The Hallyu did not just affect the food and beverages
industries. It has also spread to local television channels and several music variety shows in the
Philippines. Korean culture is significant to Filipinos because it adds up experience of something new in
different ways.

Why do you think Hallyu became a reflection of the Philippine cultural identity?

Hallyu became a reflection of the Philippine Culture because of the similarities we have like being a food
and music lover. Koreans also enjoy celebrations such as birthdays and get-together and this why it is
really quick to adapt their culture because of the same vibe.

What do you think is the reason why Filipinos love Hallyu and idolize K-Pop stars?

How do you think Hallyu affected businesses in the Philippines, and do you think the marketability and
industry for Hallyu are becoming a bandwagon?
