II. Overview
Social workers are among the few professionals in the helping
profession that work across fields and disciplines in a wide array of work
settings and environment, dealing with individuals, groups and
communities with diverse circumstances and concerns. Thus, social
workers perform diverse roles and functions serving as cutting edges to
numerous organizations and institutions for social services and other
needs.
Some of the work areas of social work are:
Schools Hospitals Response unit
Welfare agency Clinic Public office
Rehabilitation centers Military camp Learning center
Advocacy groups

Value, Rights, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities. It is not only


about the fact that social work is always concerned with the clients and
service oriented but it’s also about the social work’s rights, responsibilities
and accountabilities like any other professions. It is the right to achieve
professional mandates or what is asked for the social worker to help the
clients, general public and society and live by its value. Social work
responsibilities involves those situations that concern of its basic functions,
professional standards, roles, and adherence to the local and international
code of ethics. Hence, this module introduces you the values, rights,
responsibilities and accountabilities of social workers.

Ethical and Unethical Behavior of social worker. Unethical behavior
can be defined as actions that are against social norms or acts that are
considered unacceptable to the public.

Ethical behavior is the complete opposite of unethical behavior. Ethical


behavior follows the majority of social norms and such actions are
acceptable to the public.
There are 6 classification of ethical conduct. Ethical conduct to clients,
to colleagues, in practice setting, as professional, as profession, and
ethical conduct to the broader society.
