Morphology syntax interface

Morphology: Morphology is the study of the internal structure of words. It is the

study of the structure of words and the rules for word formation.
Syntax: The arrangement of words and phrases to create well formed sentences
in a language. If you change the position of even one word, it’s possible to change
the meaning of the entire sentence.
Example:
Lady, shoes ----- noun
Red ---- adjective Morphology
Buying --- verb

The lady was buying red shoes. Syntax

According to the traditional view, the relation between morphology and syntax is
the following: while morphology builds up word forms_ typically by combining
roots with other roots and with affixes, but also by applying other operations to
them, syntax takes fully inflected words as input and combines them into phrases
and sentences. The division of labor between morphology and syntax is thus
perfect. Morphology only operates below the word level whereas syntax only
operates above the word level. Moreover, these two components of grammar are
ordered in strict sequence, such that the syntax takes over after the morphology
has done its work.

of complex words and syntax in its turn governs the use of morphological case
marking on words.

syntax is a tool used in writing proper grammatical sentences.
