Silent Sentinel 1
Introduction
Welcome
The Osiris PT Platform is specifically engineered to handle larger and heavier camera
units, fully protected within a robust IP67 housing. Optical encoders for both the
pan and tilt axes provide highly accurate positioning and repeatability; allied with self
correction systems that will counteract any external interference.
A pan speed of up to 100 degrees per second (continuous rotation possible) and a
tilt speed of up to 50 degrees per second ensure that no time is wasted moving into
position.
Key features
• IP67 environmental protection
• 100+ degrees per second pan speed
• Self correction positioning system
• Preset repeatability to within 0.010
• Proportionate speed control
• Low backlash belt driven technology
• Backlash 0.02
• Flexible mounting options
• 30Kg payload
• User friendly OSD menu structure
• Optical encoders

Installing the bracket and Osiris unit
1 Using a 3mm hex key, loosen the four screws that secure the outer covers of the 3 CAUTION: The Osiris unit is heavy (??Kg with a single camera attached), take pre-

Always support the Osiris assembly by the main motor body, NEVER by the camera.
Carefully lift the assembly onto the tower mount so that the
connector and safety wire lug fit through the large hole in
the mount.

2 Use four M8 bolts of appropriate specification to secure the tower mount bracket to
your fixing structure.

4 Pass the safety wire through the centre

hole and wrap it around one of the
tower mount legs (then latch it back on
itself) at the earliest opportunity.
5 Use the four supplied M8 hex bolts
and spring washers to secure the Osiris
assembly to the tower mount. Use a
6mm hex key to tighten the four bolts.

Connections Communication
The Osiris unit is served by a multicore cable containing power input, control and video The Osiris unit uses RS485 communication and supports industry standard HCCP,
output signals. The cable is supplied with the necessary connector to attach to the PelcoD or SISS? control protocols via that link.

Cable cores desk or from a computer using the Silent Sentinel Utility (SSUtility) program. For the
latter, an RS485 to USB converter is usually required.

Operation
The Osiris unit can be controlled by a standard CCTV desk or by the optional Silent
Sentinel Utility (SSUtility) which runs on any suitable Windows-based computer.

SSUtility
In operation, the SSUtility presents a compact window with all necessary controls
within easy reach for the operator. The window has three main areas:

POST (power-on-self-test) codes
These tests are conducted in sequence during power on providing that the ‘POST’ op-
tion within the OSD menu is enabled. The error code displayed is a composite number.
Each failed test adds its code to the right.
For instance: A result of 0000078A ...would indicate that tests 7, 8 and A failed.

Error code Failure Possible cause

1 Pan motor test Possible cause of failure is pan & tilt encoder leads reversed
2 Pan hall-effect sensor Tests for always on sensor. Possible failure is pan and tilt sensor leads reversed.

7 Zoom feedback Possible cause of failure is zoom and focus feedback leads reversed.
8 Focus feedback
9 External UART test (485) Possible failure is

A Temperature sensor test
B Camera (Samsung at present) Poor connection of RS485 A or B line to camera. It is possible to get one way
communications test communication with only one connection so this tests both send and receive
F Non-critical error Indicates that a non-
critical error occurred during initialisation
