It is undoubted that the development of technology has affected

almost every aspect of our lives. People say that technolo-gy and
traditional cultures are totally incompatible; however, it is believed that
both of them can co-exist with each other.

Traditional cultures are slowly being vanished by technological growth.

Children nowadays find video games much attractive than folk games
such as flying the kites, which may lead to the disappearance of these
types of entertainment. In addition, thanks to the development of
smart phones and tablets, people are able to read millions of books
through small and convenient equipment every time and everywhere
without worrying about carrying or preserving books. It is said that this
could have bad influences on reading culture when people are losing
their interests in paper books.

On the other hand, the development of technology and traditional

values and customs are not totally incompatible. We can make use of
technological growth to bring the forgotten traditions back into our
society. The power of the Internet should be applied effectively in
education so that children are aware of traditions which have been
existed for generations. For example, a video of flying the colourful
kites could make them interested in playing the game. Moreover,
education plays an important role in preserving long-lasting traditions
and customs.

In conclusion, the advancement of technology has indeed eroded some

of our traditional values; nevertheless, it does not seem that both of
them cannot exist together. Technology should be developed along
with the preservation of traditional values.
