DESCRIPTION
An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 at a depth of 10.0 km (6.21 miles) has occurred at 18 km WSW of
Ciranjang-hilir, Indonesia, as reported by the National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC) of the USGS on
November 21, 2022, 07:10:38 UTC.
Preliminary analysis indicates that this is a moderate earthquake, but it is very shallow (shallower quakes
generally tend to be more damaging than deeper quakes.) Based on the preliminary data, earthquakes of
this depth and magnitude are expected to result in moderate to severe shaking within 80.0 km (49.71
miles) from the epicenter. It is estimated that 2.1 Million people, 526,158 households, and $7.55 Billion
