On successful completion of this module, you will demonstrate an understanding and a


practical ability in the procedures for conducting administration on a PTS system. You will
be able to:
• Use the man, info and help feature on the PTS.
• Navigate to and utilize the Sandvine online help
• Create a Sandvine support account and navigate to and use the Sandvine support
services

‘man’ formats and displays the on-line manual pages. This version knows about the
MANPATH and PAGER environment variables, so you can have your own set(s) of personal
man pages and choose whatever program you like to display the formatted pages. If section
is specified, man only looks in that section of the manual. You may also specify the order
to search the sections for entries and which preprocessors to run on the source files via
command line options or environment variables. If enabled by the

# show interface rate -h


Command "show interface rate" executes the sfcstat utility and shows
the output
as a continually updated display on stdout. The sfcstat utility
provides
detailed packet rate information including:
- external packet rates
- internal module rates
- internal fabric rates
- all packets dropped in the fabric
The interfaces to display and the type of rate (bit-rate, packet-rate
or
byte-rate) can be specified in the arguments to the command. The
default is to
include the cluster, data and module interfaces bit-rates without
cluster or
module details

Syntax

show interface rate [drops | modules-detail | fabric-detail |


cluster-detail |
expansion-detail] [bytes | bits | packets]

The svupdate program is used to update the Sandvine software packages for all
applications. It has a significant number of options to control its behavior from the
command line allowing full automation of its tasks. It also has a menu driven selection
system to allow the user to explore the options that are available. At any time in the
menus 'q' can be used to quit and 'b' can be used to move back a menu level.
