An original Pattern for an Unoriginal Character. Pattern by Kim Konen.

**2021**

● This pattern has been updated based on several edits and questions that have come in over the
past 2 years. I hope these edits make it easier to read, especially for newbie knitters. Thanks to
everyone who has reached out with questions, photos, and notes. I absolutely love seeing your
finished products and can’t wait to see more! Keep them coming!
● I have added a "Character Pattern" PDF to my Ravelry shop. This PDF will teach you how to
make your B.Y. while knitting in the round and more.

I made this pattern at home over the 2019 holiday season. Please do not sell or recreate this pattern, it’s
intended to be free. This pattern has not been tested by anyone but me. Please reach out anytime with
edits and I’ll make them. Thanks y’all! Remember it’s a free pattern, have fun and be kind!

With 5 stitches left on your needle, cut the yarn with a 20” tail (approx. 50cm).
Use your tapestry needle to thread the tail through the 5 stitches. Bring the
thread back around through the loop twice to tie a knot.

Keep tapestry needle threaded. Fold the body in half lengthwise. With knit
side facing out, line up and sew the seam from the top point to the bottom
using the mattress stitch. Tie a knot. Leave the bottom of the body open. Cut
yarn. (Don’t worry if the top of the head is pointy, it will round out when you
stuff it with fiber fill.)

Stuff body with fiber fill.

With the seam in the center back, stitch the bottom of the body closed.

Head: With your seam in center back, use the same color yarn and tapestry
needle to weave a piece of yarn under and over the stitches around the body

3
3 ½” (approx 9cm) down from the top center. Once all the way around, pull
tight to form the head. Tie a knot to fasten. Weave in ends.

With 3 stitches left on needle, cut the thread with a 6” (15cm) tail. Thread yarn
on tapestry needle and pull through the 3 stitches. Bring the thread back
around through the loop twice to tie a knot. Cut yarn. Weave in ends.

With knit side facing, fold top ¼” (approx 1cm) of

ear over and tack down (see photo). Do the same
with the bottom ¼” and tack down with same color
yarn using a tapestry needle. Sew onto sides of the

Attach the arms to the shawl on knit side using thread and sewing needle.
When laying flat, knit side facing, sew the arms 3” (approx 8cm) from side
edge and 2” (approx 5cm) from top bound off edge as shown in photo.

Attach the shawl to the body. Fold the top approx 2” (5cm) over to cover top
arm seams. Wrap the shawl around the body. Using the sewing thread and
sewing needle, tack the shawl down under the neck, overlapping a bit.

Attach the eyes. Using the thread and sewing needle, sew buttons on. 3”
down from the top point of the head and about 1 3/4” (approx 4.5cm) apart
from the center of each eye. **For a video on how to make the eyes less
googly, check out my upgrade Character Pattern.

For nose

Using the body yarn and tapestry needle, cut a piece of body yarn about 25”
(approx 63cm) and thread through tapestry needle. Find the center of the
face, between the eyes and one stitch down. Sew a couple of stitches around
a knit stitch and tie a couple of knots in the same spot to achieve a small
round shape. Weave in ends. **For a video on how to make the nose cute
and weave in the ends securely, check out my upgrade Character Pattern.
