Interview List and Information

Interviewee 1: Sarah Wilson

Sarah is my college teacher and used to work in industry as a sports
reporter and editor so she has massive relevance and was a big part of
me choosing this topic for my production. She has many interesting and
useful stories in which I can share to help people.

Interviewee 2: Charlotte Baker

Charlotte is a student I work alongside at college and she wants to work
in a similar industry to me and has done some work both personally and
for college projects in which she has faced challenges which stem from
her being a woman wanting to work in sports media.

Shooting script
Welcome to the CMC cast, on today’s episode we will be discussing sporting
journalism, and in particular women in journalism. This topic has been a hot
one recently and I feel it still needs the time and exposure it deserves,
although inclusion for women has gotten better statistically the conditions and
workplace attitudes have not reflected this in some scenarios. Reports coming
out from top names in the industry such as Gabby Logan, strongly accusing
some people in the industry of making sexist comments and consistent acts of
sexism in the work place. Also, outside of the workplace on social media things
don’t seem to get much better, with multiple women choosing not to appear
on TV on sky sports famous Soccer Saturday show as commentators and
pundits due to backlash on social media platforms like twitter and Instagram.
Within this episode I will be speaking to multiple people who this affects and
continue to effect, by getting their opinions and thoughts we can help to tackle
this issue. Statistics show that in 2022 only 8% of sports journalist articles were
written by women. Multiple significant people have made significant steps in
sports media for women, these are really important for this movement and
any movement needs so called trail blazers and figureheads, so this is a little
introduction and backstory to just a few of them. Andrea Kremer is an
American sports presenter and producer who was the first female producer at
NFL films and a few years later was even ESPN’s first female correspondent.
She is a versatile worker as she has worked over a multitude of platforms and
can work both on scene pitch side and in the studio to great effect, she has
also covered other major events such as the Olympics. She is a two-time
Emmey winner and a member of the Philadelphia sports hall of fame and most
prestigiously received the Pete Rozelle radio-television award at the Pro
Football hall of fame in Canton. I asked my interviewees about their view on
female role models in sports media and sport in general and here is what they
said.
After hearing that I have realised even more how important representation is
in things like sports media, also I asked them if they had been treated in any
way during the profession and I got some very insightful and descriptive
answers. Here are some of them. Although a lot has been done there is still a
long way to go.
Equipment and Software List

I used the colleges recording studio to record my personal script and did
my interviews separately. I used the recorder and the microphone to get
the best and cleanest audio I could find

Then I edited them together using audition and changed audio and fine-
tuned it all.
