Proposal

Rationale

In this production I wish to display my full range of skills that I have either learned or
developed throughout these last 12 units on this course. I have developed a further
understanding of things like speeches and the construction of them and also camerawork.
Another thing I learned was what happens behind the scenes and behind the camera, with
things like live editing and how to successfully set up a live production and how many things
really go into the making of it. I now have more understanding and therefore am more
equipped to piece together a well-made and structured production for my final piece,
showcasing all my new-found skills. I want to be putting myself in the deep end with this
one so I can really see what I can do when pushed.

Project Concept

In this project I aim to convey a clear message and create more of an understanding for my
audience about sportspeople and their dedication and passion. I want for people to watch
my documentary and to see how hard these people work to be the best they possibly can
and all the blood, sweat and tears they put into it. People often are quick to judge
professionals for any mistake they may make and a common phrase thrown around is “I
could do better than that”. So, I want to really show just how much better these
sportspeople are than the average person. I will be interviewing semi-professional and
professional male and females in a range of sports to gain the widest range of knowledge
possible. I will use locations like Boxing gyms, a gym and possibly the studio here at college
to do interviews. For pieces to camera I plan on using the recording studio to get the best
audio quality possible. I will need to use 2 cameras at one point for my interviews so I can
get a wider variety of angles and therefore look more professional and also, I will be wanting
to bring a microphone to my interviews so I can deal with things like wind and background
noise.

Evaluation

I will evaluate myself harshly but fairly throughout the process of making this project so I
can continue to improve as I go on and achieve the highest grade possible, I will log my work
in my production schedule and add as I go on and after my production I will speak on it in
my evaluation. In my evaluation I plan to be able to look back on my clear objectives and say
I have met them to a degree and can see clearly I have stuck to a plan effectively from start
to finish. I will speak about any changes of plan on my website i.e. Idea changes and things
like time schedule and interview changes. I will speak on the people I interviewed and
worked with in things such as test shoots and how they helped me or could have helped me
better in their respected roles throughout my production.
