Radio Drama 06/04/22
Radio Drama
Rationale
Since the start of college, I have improved some of my skills. At the beginning of college, I had basic
knowledge in editing in After Effects and none in any of the other Adobe software. Since then, I
have learnt how to use Premier Pro and have partly learnt some of Adobe Audition. I would like to
use this as an opportunity to develop and work on my skills further by making a radio drama. I have
also learnt how edit colour on clips and how colours can affect the tone of the shots. Another thing
I have learnt is how different shot types can impact the meaning of the shots and can develop the
narrative. I have also learnt how to edit audio and use different sound effects to make the audience
more engaged in the storyline and make it more believable. I would like to use these skills when
making my radio drama for the Final Major Project. The main thing I struggle with is idea generation
and time management. This project would be a good chance for me to help me develop my skills
and help reach my aspirations of being able to edit easily using Adobe Audition.
Project Concept
The concept of my aims is to create an entertaining radio drama. I would like to produce a radio
drama that is easy to follow, interesting to listen to and also makes sense. The practice from the
previous radio drama unit should benefit me while making this project as I have had practice and I
also got good feedback from the last one. I can also learn from my previous mistakes and avoid
them this time round. The main resources that I will need is a microphone, the radio recording
room and actors. I will use these resources once I finish my script and planning. I will use my
teacher feedback, resources, and peers to my advantage and ask for support and ideas along the
way. This should help expand my knowledge, support my ideas, and develop anything that needs
improvement. I will make sure to use time out of college and to stay in extra hours to make sure I
have plenty of time to do my work to a high standard. I will do all my work on time and do the
feedback given as soon as possible. This should make my work of a high quality and the more
planning and research I complete, the easier it will be to produce a successful, entertaining radio
drama.
Evaluation
I will aim to write in my weekly blogs at the end of each working day. This should help me keep on
track whilst the information is still fresh in my mind. I will also make sure to send out surveys where
needed to my focus group and get theirs and my teacher's feedback and opinions on my work. I will
record my idea/ idea process on my website in a neat and professional manner and add in any idea
changes to my website. By the end of the Unit, I will have written out the thought and research
process of how I have produced my radio drama. I will make a detailed production schedule for
each day so that I can plan my time management well (which was one of my aims). When working
with others, it is helpful to me as I will gain a distinct perspective to my own and use that to help
develop my work to a higher level.
