Task 1

It is essential that you keep a log or record of how the team


functioned and the part of that you played in helping the
team to function. Make sure that you keep the log in the way
identified at the start of the unit. The log should provide you
with useful evidence to demonstrate how you have worked in
a team during the study of this unit.

In this part of assignment I am going to describe my team and the task given to my
team, and how my team performed the given task and what was my role in team
and how I played my role. I will describe the log or record of all my team
members. And then I will describe the role of a team leader and the conflicts and
problems he solved as a team leader.

There are different teams in the corporate world and I am a part of a temporary
team. We are given a beauty salon to run. We have given a task of achieving a
good profit and satisfy the customers coming to our salon. There are total five
members in my team. All have given a task regarding their post or designation.
And I will describe each job.

Everyone is doing two jobs at a time in the beauty salon. Nujood is doing the job
of electrologist as well as makeup artist also. Wiam is hair stylist and
cosmetologist also. Samar is manicurist and aesthetician and Nujaila is massage
therapist and salon assistant as well. They all four members have given theses
different task and they have given these tasks according to their ability and
positions.

I am the team leader and along with that I am a receptionist also. Now I will
describe that how we earn profit and tried to satisfy customers and how all the
team members done their job with all the responsibilities and sincerity. My team is
having total five members. And all the team members worked together and I as
team leader worked with them to encourage them and make them work as I wanted
them to work.

Record of the team members and their work

Wiam:
 Time management:
Wiam was a good hair stylist doing the work very fast. She was using her
time in doing both the works at same time. She was doing waxing and hair
styling in very same time. She was using her spare time very actively.
 Team work:
Wiam was not that good in team work as she used to do all her work alone
and in team she used to get distracted.
 Problem solving:
Wiam was very good in problem solving. And can easily sort out the
problems.
 Independent learning:
Wiam was not that good in learning; sometimes she was unable to learn few
things.
 Organizational skills:
Wiam was very active in organizational skills. Her organizational skills
impressed me a lot.
 Communication skills:
Wiam was vey fluent in English and Arabic and sometimes Hindi also.
 Presentation skills:
She was very presentable. Customers were happy with her always. And this
made her very important in our team as everyone used to like her because of
her good presentation.

 Written communication:
Wiam was good in writing; she usually used to write all the emails for our
beauty salon. And it was her good quality.
 Creativity:
She was very creative in thinking as well as doing things also. Customers
were very happy with her creativity.
 Stress tolerance:
Sometimes she was not able manage stress. But most of the time she was
good in stresses tolerance.
 Personal confidence:
Wiam is a very confident woman; she used to do all her work with
confidence and anyone can see confidence on her face.
 Good listener:
Wiam used to get so busy with her work that sometimes she was not able to
listen what she is being told.
 Commitment:
She is very committed to her work. No other thing was as important as her
work for her.

Samar:

 Time management:
Samar was very good in manicure and pedicure. She was doing facial also.
She was taking a little more time for facials but manicure and pedicure done
by her was always appreciated by the customers. And facials also were very
good although time consuming.

 Team work:
Samar was very good in team work and she was very good in doing all the
work in team. Everybody was happy with her team work. She used to do all
her work with the team.
 Problem solving:
Samar was ok in problem solving; she was not that good and not that bad
also.
 Independent learning:
Samar was very good in learning; she can learn new things on her own very
easily.
 Organizational skills:
Samar was also very good in organizational skills.
 Communication skills:
Samar was good in English. Her Arabic was also good. But other languages
were not that good. Other languages were manageable.
 Presentation skills:
Her presentation skills were manageable. But sometimes she needed
correction.
 Written communications:
Samar was ok in written communication, not that impressive. But I can give
her some work if necessary.
 Creativity:
Samar was very creative, and her creativity was seen most of the time during
her work. Her creativity gave her good fame in our team and every customer
was started admiring her creativity.

 Stress tolerance:
Samar was very bad in stress tolerance. She cannot handle stress. She gets
frustrated if she gets stress. And because of her bad tolerance, sometimes she
was unable to complete her work with efficiency. But this happened very
few times.
 Personal confidence:
Samar is also a very confident woman; she used to do all her work with
confidence and anyone can see confidence on her face.
 Good listener:
Samar is a good listener, during her work; she will pay full attention to the
customers.
 Commitment:
She is very committed to her work. No other thing was as important as her
work for her.

Nujaila:

 Time management:
Nujaila was a good massage therapist doing the work very fast. She was
salon assistant also. She was using her time in doing both the works at same
time. She was doing massage and hair assistance job in very same time. She
was using her spare time very actively.
 Team work:
Nujaila was very good in team work as she used to do all her work in team
and with people and this give her good quality of creating a good team
around her.

 Problem solving:
Nujaila was also very good in problem solving. And can easily sort out the
problems.
 Independent learning:
Nujaila was very good in learning; but sometimes she was unable to learn
few things.
 Organizational skills:
Nujaila was fair enough in organizational skills.
 Communication skills:
Nujaila was fluent in English, Arabic and Hindi also.
 Presentation skills:
Nujaila was very presentable. Customers were very happy with her always.
 Written communication:
Nujaila was fair enough in writing; she used to write most of the documents
for our beauty salon. And it was her good quality.
 Creativity:
She was also very creative in thinking as well as doing things also.
Customers were very happy with her creativity.
 Stress tolerance:
Sometimes she was not that bad in managing stress. But most of the time she
was good in stresses tolerance.
 Personal confidence:
Nujaila is a very confident woman; she used to do all her work with
confidence and anyone can see confidence on her face. This confidence gave
her very attractive nature.

 Good listener:
Nujaila is a good listener, during her work; she will pay full attention to the
customers. And that will make her very patient while dealing with
customers.
 Commitment:
She is also very committed to her work. No other thing was as important as
her work for her. Almost all the employees were like this in my team.

Nujood:

 Time management:
Nujood was very good in doing makeup and removing hair from body. She
was removing hair so easily and quickly. Most of the time customers will be
amazed to see this.
 Team work:
Nujood was very good in team work and she was very good in doing all the
work in team. Everybody was happy with her team work. She used to do all
her work with the team.
 Problem solving:
Nujood was very good in problem solving; she used to solve the problems
very fast on her own. This was the reason that she always managed to solve
the problem instantly.
 Independent learning:
Nujood was very good in learning; she can learn new things on her own very
easily. And this made her very innovative and informative for others who
want to learn.

 Organizational skills:
Nujood was also very good in organizational skills. Her skills were
impressive for all. Everyone will think of her skills.
 Communication skills:
Nujood was very good in English. Her Arabic was also very good. But other
languages were not that good.
 Presentation skills:
Her presentation skills were very effective. And sometimes she presented
some things very beautifully.
 Written communications:
Nujood was good in written communication, sometimes very impressive. I
can give her some work if most of the time.
 Creativity:
Nujood was also very creative, and her creativity was seen most of the time
during her work. Her creativity sometimes be seen in her makeup, when
client will look very different and very attractive only because of her
makeup. And this quality made Nujood very interesting and innovative.
 Stress tolerance:
Nujood was very good in stress tolerance. She can handle any stress. She
doesn’t get frustrated if she gets stress. And because of her good tolerance,
most of the time, she will finish her work on time.
 Personal confidence:
Nujood is also a very confident woman; she used to do all her work with
confidence and anyone can see confidence on her face. This confidence
made her very attractive in looks.

 Good listener:
Nujood is also a good listener, during her work; she will pay full attention to
the customers.
 Commitment:
She is very committed to her work. No other thing was as important as her
work for her.

This was the record or log of all the team members and now I will describe the log
presenting my record as a team leader and how I helped the function to be worked
out. This record is maintained by me as a team leader, but the log was prepared by
the complete team, words were given by all the team members as it should not be a
biased decision.

 Time management as a leader:


I was doing the work of receptionist and a big task of team leader. I was
using my time in doing both the works at same time. I was doing all the
paper works, attending the calls, taking appointments and making the
schedule for the clients according to their time and preferences.
 Team work as a team leader:
I was very good in team work; I was using all my time in managing the
team. I was trying to manage all the teams work together. This was my job
as a team leader and I knew how to do the work in team taking all the
responsibilities.

 Problem solving as a team leader:
I was very good in problem solving. And I can easily sort out the problem
that is the reason team selected me as a team leader.
 Independent learning:
I was very good in learning; and most of the things are easy for me to
understand.
 Organizational skills:
I was very active in organizational skills; I am very enthusiastic and
energetic in doing organizational skills.
 Communication skills:
I am very fluent in English and Arabic, but other languages are difficult for
me. But I can manage those languages with the help of my other team
members.
 Presentation skills:
I am very presentable. Customers were happy with me always.
 Written communication:
I am good in writing; I usually used to write all the data and contacts
received in the beauty salon.
 Creativity:
I am very creative in thinking as well as doing things also. Customers were
very happy with my creativity.
 Stress tolerance:
I am very cool and calm when it comes to manage stress. It’s my quality that
makes me different than others. And this stress tolerance put me ahead to
become a team leader.

 Personal confidence:
I am very confident woman; I used to do all my work with confidence and
anyone can see confidence on my face. And confidence is very important
and necessary thing for team leader. This quality will make anyone team
leader.
 Good listener:
I am a very good listener also, but not always, when it comes to deal with
customers, I am always being a good listener. But dealing with team
members, I will be speaker also.
 Commitment:
I am very committed to my work. No other thing is as important as my work
for me.

This was the record of all the team members and the team leader. It shows that how
we all worked in a team together solving all the problems coming in our function.
We had given the task of beauty salon. And we did complete the task in a very
achievable manner and all the team members performed well. I also did my part
well and supported all the tasks in a very supportive manner.

Task 2

With feedback, other people are able to see things about you
that you may not be able to see yourself. If you want to move
forward, it makes sense to listen to feedback rather than
taking it as criticism. Try to take on board what they say

when it is appropriate. If you are the team leader, provide
your members feedback. Also, provide feedback to your co-
members. After collecting feedback about yourself, write
about how you will improve yourself using the feedback you
received.

members

Wiam:
Wiam is a good hair stylist and cosmetologist. But she cannot understand the new
things said or asked by customers’ sometimes. She is sometimes not able to mix in
the group. She is sometimes away from the team mentally, means she will not
listen what you said. And most of the time she will get upset for small reasons.

Samar:
Samar is a good manicurist and aesthetician. But usually she takes time for her
work, her work is satisfactory, therefore customers manage with her late work. She

is not that much presentable sometimes, which irritates the customers. If more
work is given to her, it will be very difficult for her to manage that stress.

Nujaila:
Nujaila was good massage therapist and salon assistant. The only problem with
Nujaila is that she cannot handle lots of customers in one time. It will give her
stress.

Nujood:
Nujood is good electrologist and makeup artist. The only problem with Nujood is
that she cannot understand different languages. Therefore it is difficult for her if
other language customers are coming. She needs translator then to deal with these
types of customers.

These were the points I gave to all my team members as a feedback provided by
clients and me. All the feedback was in written format so that my team members
could not know that who gave all these feedback as this can make them unhappy.
Now it was my turn to receive the feedback. All the feedback was in written format
and it was provided by my team members and few clients who used to come to the
beauty salon to seek treatments.

Feedback given for me as a team leader

Team leader:

As a team leader I am very confident and enthusiastic, but dealing with other
languages is sometimes difficult for me. As per team members opinion I used to
get bossy sometimes, which makes them little unhappy. I don’t do any work other

than receptionist; this is the other problem team members think. Managing the
team as a team leader is not that easy as per my view, but this is not the point of
view of every member. Every team members thinks that managing the team as a
team leader is quite easy.

This was the feedback given by team members and myself with the help of some
clients, which we all took as good tips for all of us.

How to improve:

Following are the things we should improve as a team member and a team leader
to run a beauty salon smoothly.

 Appearance and presentation:
I and my team decided that we will give good presentation and make our
self very beautiful in appearance. We were selling the beauty service,
therefore it was very important that we should look beautiful so that our
customers will look us and think to visit our beauty salon.
 Responsibilities:
We were given a nig responsibility of making people look beautiful. This
was the responsibility for every member of the team, and as a team leader I

decided to take all responsibilities as a challenge and we started with the
positive and good attitude.

These were the few points which we thought to improve in our self while dealing
with the customers. This part of assignment is finished with the feedback and the
ways to improve from the feedback given from others. We all took those feedbacks
as a positive point to improve.

Task 3

‘Evaluate’ means to make justified judgments. Make it clear


how your findings provide supporting evidence for your
team’s overall effectiveness in meeting objectives and for
your recommendations for improvements. Prepare a two-
column table. On the first column, list the key result areas
that should be evaluated in your team. On the second
column list the evidence of the results that you have achieved
and judge how well you have achieved the result.

In this part of assignment I am going to describe the team’s overall effectiveness,


together with my contribution to achieving and providing feedback to other team
members.

All the feedback was given by the team members and by some of the genuine
customers which we value for their opinions. Working in a team was very good

experience for all of us. We learned something and we were failing sometime in
some part of the work.

We were given the work of a beauty salon which was very sensitive point
regarding the women. But we dealt this sensitive and critical point with lots of care
and tried to attract more customers to gain maximum profit in limited time. Not
only this, we tried to achieve the best results with the given resources and tried to
satisfy all the customers with great effort.
