< uw HOW TO PLAY BENTO BOX
Ie
You are in charge of making bento boxes for the lunch rush
and your customers are very picky! To make a successful Bento
box - you must have 8+ matching sushi orthogonally adjacent
in one group and also 8+ matching condiments orthogonally adjacent in one group. but
if you want more money from your customers you will want to make sure you group as
many like sushi and condiments together in orthogonal groups of 3 or more - you lose
money for anything not in an orthogonal group of 3 or more.

+ Take the 4 starter tiles - these have stars on their backs & fronts - and place them ina
square as shown (it can be in any order). this is the start of your bento box.
+ Shuffle remaining tiles and cards and create 2 face down piles allowing room for 2
discard piles.
«Draw 4 tiles and 4 cards and place them so they
are in easy reach.
The following 4 moves are mandatory and must be
performed in the following order:
1. Play 1 sushi tile. it must be placed orthogonally with
jan existing tile and cannot overlap.
2. Perform the action on your selected card (see
overleaf for more details on moves) then discard.
3. Discard 1 tile and 1 card from the remaining face up
cards & tiles.
4. Replenish the face up cards and tiles back up to 4 of
each. The game ends when you can no longer replenish the face up area. You should have 19
tiles in your bento box at this point. Check that you have an orthogonally connected
group of 8+ sushi and 8+ condiments to move onto scoring.
Ae) SS
Score sushi groups and condiment groups separately using the score sheet - remember
it is only classed as a group if it is orthogonally connected and contains 3 or more tiles.
You will lose $5 per tile not in a group.
