Informational text is a subset of the larger category

of nonfiction. Its primary purpose is to inform the


reader about the natural or social world. Informative
text educates the reader about a specific topic. The
information texts must give sufficient information
and explanations necessary to understand the
information.

These types of texts describe real events and
themes.
Its purpose is to convey information about reality,
touching on different themes.
It avoids repeating something that has already been
explained and the information is intended to be
given as clearly as possible.
Language should be coherent, direct, objective and
language resources such as metaphors or popular

exposed content must be accurate and explained in
an impersonal way.

Types of Text:

News:
This is the description of a recent event that the issuer wants to be made
public. The news editor should recount the facts as objectively as possible,
offering as much information as he can, looking for witnesses who lived
the event and interview them.

All news is about answering six questions:

Formal Letter:
Its main objective is to transmit to the recipient information concerning
him, which must be treated seriously. Formal letters are usually written for
people who are not personally known or with those who do not have a
friendship relationship. This type of informative text can also be written to
an authority or a company.

language used.

the rest of what will be exposed.
5. Body: All the information about the event or topic is
explained.
6. Farewell: the main idea of the letter is summarized
and politely dismissed.

Memorandum:

It is basically a letter, but much shorter. It is widely used in companies and


other types of organizations, as it allows them to communicate quickly and
synthetically.

In this type of informative text the language is formal, but it does not
require all the protocol aspects that are in the letters.

Its structure is:

1. Character: usually memorandum.


2. Header: you put who sent it, for whom and the
reference of the subject of the memorandum.
3. Greeting.
4. Body: the information to be transmitted.
5. Farewell.
6. Signature.
7. Date.
Report:
It is an informative text whose purpose is to disseminate. Is not
intended to persuade its reader. However, this type of text can include
recommendations to guide the reader to a specific objective.
