There is no shortcut, and you will need to do hard work.
Expect results in 12-18 months.

KNOW YOUR FAVORITE
SUBJECTS TO PHOTOGRAPH TO
DEFINE YOUR IDEAL CLIENT
Who do you want to
work with?
What type of companies do you want to work
with?
what can be your specialization?
What subject do you love to photograph?
How can you define the niche of brands you
would love to work with?

Get clear about what type of brands you would

love to work with & start researching what
those brands might like when it comes to
photography.
What subject do you love
photographing?

What brands can you find in your cabinets?

Next step: Write down 30-50 brands in your niche, or as many as you can.
02
DO THE RESEARCH OF YOUR
IDEAL CLIENT
What it's important to
understand
What photography style do the brands use?
Do they use mostly commercial food photos or
lifestyle?
Do they incline towards bright & airy or dark &
moody?
Do they like minimalistic or larger scenes?
Do some research & write down the list of
shots you will need in your portfolio to
attract your ideal client.
03

BUSINESS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
Defining clear goals will
help you.
achieve your goals faster
feel more committed

"let's see how it goes... and "Let's find 5 brands to work

I can start contacting brands with at the end of 2022"
after I learn what I need"
He can define and set smaller
steps to achieve what he
Result: not clear what she wants.
needs to do & achieve what she
want for a long time or never... Result: he has a much higher
chance of achieving.
What do you want to achieve in 2023?
When do you need to complete your portfolio?

What styles/types of shots and how many images will you

need to add to your portfolio?

When do you want to start working with clients?

What is the income you wish to earn in the next year?

04
BUILD YOUR PORTFOLIO
Building your portfolio
Create a portfolio that represents your style but
reflects the style of your potential clients too
keep updating your portfolio regularly, adding
new images, client work, client references, etc...
optimize your portfolio pages for the right
keywords so that you can result higher in google
What images will you need to
add/change/update in your portfolio?

What is your DDL for

completing/updating your portfolio?
05
SOCIAL MEDIA
Instagram & Pinterest
They are kind of extensions of your portfolio.
Instagram is mainly for a short-term purpose,
while Pinterest is for a long-term vision.
post new photos you create in different styles
so you can keep attracting your potential
customers via social media too
Pro tip:

Post images where you include your favorite

products you use at home, and tag the brands.
Start creating a relationship so they can notice
your work, and it can evolve into a cooperation in
the future.

On the other side: do pay attention that brands

do not steal your content.
What can be your next action to
gain more visibility on social
media?
06
PITCH RESTAURANTS &
MAGAZINES
Get your first
professional projects
contact restaurants to create a restaurant
photography portfolio
pitch managines to feature your work
use this to include into your portfolio - images,
testimonials, references
or, use the opportunity to work with important
international brands for a product exchange (for
building up your portfolio)
Write down some restaurants you
can contact for to build your
portfolio

Write a list of magazines you can pitch

Make a research about international

brands looking for ambassadors

When I got approached by the Chief-

Editor of Naked Foodies online
magazine, I had an idea of how the
magazines work and was confident to
accept the offer.
07
KEEP LEARNING & UPDATING
YOUR PORTFOLIO
Upgrade your skills
as you go
You don't need to be an expert in everything
immediately, but you learn it as you go.
When you feel overwhelmed by many things to
learn, ask yourself: What is a must-to-know to
create an image, and what is a nice-to-know to
make it perfect.
Tips for new skills at this point: Photoshop,
Capture One, Artificial lighting,
What is your must-to-know?

What is your nice-to-know?

Define what skills are advanced that you don't need to learn them necessarily immediately.
TIPS FOR MAKING THE
JOURNEY INSPIRING
Invest time into photography, not into IG

Network with others to keep being inspired

and charged with positive energy

Whenever you learn something new,

Implement new techniques step by step - the
spiral method. (from the part 1 live class)

Creating an action plan, being specific about

what you want to achieve, and doing things
slowly and step by step is the fastest way to
achieve them.

Do what feels right and what can help you

create a stronger presence (working for free
for a magazine, working for an exchange of
products, or not being paid enough for your
first collaborations)
