Capstone update #3

For this week I was able to cut the laminated woods into proper sizes and worked on the miter on the box sides as
well as the grove for the top piece and the bottom piece to settle on. I was able to learn a lot of new skills from this
since I have not laminated wood before (I used prelaminated wood in my past projects) and making a miter joint. I
was able to use my imagination skills as well as my analytical skills to redesign some aspects of the projects to meet
my needs. I am hoping that next week I will finish the bottom of this footstool and start laminating the top of this
footstool including the cherry wood which might take a bit more time. If there is enough time, I might be able to cut
out the door flap on the long side for the opening to put objects in.

All the materials are at the woodwork shop at school, which has really helped me with the cost problem I had before.
I am now not so sure if I should use a drawer slide since it is so much bigger and heavier than I anticipated.

I am extremely anxious about the time limit that I have. Although it feels as though I am on top of it, since I haven’t
done this project and I am learning so many new techniques, it is talking longer than I thought, and I am afraid that I
cannot finish on time. I hope that I will.
