THE MONSTER
NOAH:
I’m going out, bye Mum!
NARRATOR:
As I walked down the narrow lane leading away from my house I
couldn’t quite get to grips with what I was about to do.
Earlier that day at school, I had promised Brad and Robert
that I would explore the abandoned house with them. Hopefully
now they’ll finally respect me.
NARRATOR:
Eventually I got there… the famous abandoned house. I had
heard many stories about this place but never actually
believed any.
MUSIC: CONDESENDING
NOAH:
Hello? Anyone here yet?
BRAD:
Boo!
NOAH:
(Gasp)
ROBERT:
Hahaha, got you!
NOAH:
Ok well done guys (sarcastically), let’s just go and get this
over with.
NARRATOR:
We slowly approached the house and began to enter.
NOAH:
Hello? Is anyone in here?
BRAD:
Relax Noah you wuss nobody’s here, it’s been abandoned for
years.
Robert:
Yeah Noah grow a pair.
NOAH(FRIGHTENED):
What was that?
ROBERT:
Maybe we should get out of here.
BRAD:
You as well? Jesus Christ both of you need to get a grip, it
was nothing.
ROBERT:
You’re right, I’m no wuss.
NARRATOR:
Robert, with his only goal being to impress Brad, stormed into
the room where the sound came from.
NARRATOR:
The opened door revealed to me and Brad that it was in fact an
empty room with broken glass and rubble scattered all over the
floor.
ROBERT:
Haha, nothing in here! Can’t believe you were so scared Noah.
NOAH:
Robert look ou-
ROBERT:
(SCREAMING)
NARRATOR:
Before I could warn him, Robert was grabbed from underneath
the floor boards and disappeared in seconds.
NARRATOR:
A huge hole was left in the ground from where Robert had been
taken from. What was there? What had taken Robert? Brad
sprinted out of the house as fast as possible while I simply
stood there, staring at the hole due to a mixture of shock and
fear.
NARRATOR:
No reply.
NARRATOR:
I had somehow plucked up the courage to approach the hole to
see what was down there but just as I was about to look
inside-
SOUND: ROAR
NARRATOR:
The mysterious beast scrambled out of its hole, stumbled
straight past me and wondered into the outside world. I then
saw Roberts torn up remains (PAUSE) lying on the cold floor at
the bottom of the pit.
NOAH:
Brad? Brad? Are you out here?
NOAH:
Brad is that you?
BRAD:
Y-yes. Has the thing gone?
NOAH:
I think so, but quick, get up we need to go stop it before it
kills everyone.
BRAD:
W-what? We have to go after that… thing?
NOAH:
Yes, come on! I thought I was meant to be the wuss – Jesus
Christ.
BRAD:
What about Robert?
NOAH:
He’s gone Brad.
NOAH:
And it’ll kill everyone you know if we don’t do something NOW!
BRAD:
Look, footsteps.
NOAH:
Let’s see where they go.
BRAD:
It went over there in the power plant!
NOAH:
It must live off of nuclear waste…
BRAD:
Let’s hear it.
NOAH:
Okay, first we need to go to the junkyard, I heard the power
plant owner used to dump and bury the excess waste over there.
BRAD:
We can pick up some shovels from my house on the way.
NOAH:
Then, we need to pile it up to use it as bait for the monster.
Do you know how to operate a crane?
BRAD:
Kind of but I-
NOAH:
Perfect. We can drop a load of scrap metal on top of the
monster while its feasting on the nuclear waste.
BRAD:
Good plan, let’s do this.
NOAH:
Place it in a pile here and get in the crane. I’ll create a
path of waste to lure the monster in.
BRAD:
Got it.
SOUND: ROAR
NOAH:
Here it comes. You ready?
BRAD:
Ready.
NARRATOR:
The monster hovered over the waste, about to consume it.
NOAH:
BRAD NOW!
