Hi everyone. This note is about the M-audio Fast track pro USB audio interface for Windows 7.

I had the same problem with the white noise of this device under windows 7. First about my computer specifications: Brand : HP Series : Pavilion Tx 2500 (Tx2635ea) CPU : AMD Turion X2 Ultra 64 Video : ATI Radeon 330 MB Dedicate ram RAM : 3 GB DDR2 HDD: 250 GB SATA2 USB port: USB 2 OS : Windows 7 Ultimate Audio interfaces : M-Audio Fast track pro , Avid (M-Audio) Producer microphone Software : Pro tools M-powered 7.4 CS10 Keyboard (MIDI/Synthesizer) : Korg Pa 800 Now about how to remove white noise (killer noise!) : I have tested this method for more than 100 times and it works perfectly for me. I hope you can use this method too. Follow the steps: 1. Install a fresh Windows 7 2. Before doing anything TURN OFF THE AUTOMATIC UPDATES! 3. Do not connect any USB devices now.9 4. You should keep one USB 2 port just for these devices (if you share this port with anything else you would have white noise until you renew your windows 7) 5. When windows installation is finished: a. Download the driver for your device from http://www.m-audio.com/ b. Install the driver c. Connect your device (turn it on!) and wait for windows to install the driver and says the device is installed and ready to use. d. Turn off the device (audio interface) e. Disconnect it from PC f. restart windows 6. Now when it booted up and you are in windows again :) :

a. Connect audio interface to that USB you connected it first time (Note: do not connect it to different USB port and Do not share this port with other devices, Do not use USB HUB) b. Turn interface on. c. You will hear white noise again. d. Turn interface off. e. Disconnect it from USB port. f. Put your PC on Sleep. (Start> Near shut down butten click on arrow > Sleep) g. Turn on the PC again and connect the USB and Turn on the audio interface h. WOW it is solved you will not hear white noise again. Notes: You have to repeat the step 6 after each time you turn off your pc completely NOT SLEEP OR HIBERNATE! Some times when you are using pro tools 7.4 CS10 suddenly this noise is going to be started again, I dont know what is the problem but I think there is some thing wrong with the software not the device. There are two solutions: 1) Save your project and restart the software again, 2) Wait and be cool and continue your work it will be solved by itself just needs some minutes (around 3 minutes for me). I hope you can use this method. Faraz Nassajian faraz.nassajian@gmail.com
