    The parish of Our Mother of Perpetual Help was established 50 years ago in June 1972 by the Redemptorist Missionaries in Davao, Philippines. The idea for a Redemptorist parish in Davao did not emerge again until the early 1970s when the Archdiocese formally offered the parish in writing in May 1971, with the priority being carrying out missions. One priest was responsible for the new parish that had approximately 25,000 members when it was officially established on July 27, 1972 under the leadership of Fr. Dominic McKenna CSsR.

    The parish of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, run by the Redemptorist

    Missionaries, was established fifty years ago in June of 1972. The notion of a
    Redemptorist parish in Davao did not resurface until the early 1970s. This
    offer was given formally in writing by the Archdiocese in May 1971.
    Additionally, it was to be remembered that the priority apostolate was
    carrying out missions. One priest was responsible for looking after the parish,
    which had roughly 25,000 members. Nevertheless, the OMPH parish in Davao
    was formally established on July 27, 1972, with Fr. Parish priest Dominic
    McKenna CSsR.
